I believe that the Graphic Arts industry will in the future face a severe manpower shortage if it fails to attract new blood, young men and women, into the field. This possible manpower shortage led me to study the reasons why people entered the Graphic Arts industry. People seem to reject the Graphic Arts industry as an occupational choice for several reasons which encouraged me to undertake this study. One of these reasons, the fact that people did not know of the opportunities in the field, was my primary reason. A second possible reason was that these people very seldom …

Characteristics Of Low-Income Families In The Head Start Program In Three Eastern South Dakota Counties, Christopher Lee Smith

Objective 1. To determine the extent to which a sample of Head Start families possesses certain social and demographic characteristics which have been cited as common among families participating in the Head Start program, or among poverty …

A Rhetorical Criticism Of The Defense In The People V. Sirhan Bishara Sirhan, Suzanne Kiesby

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Within the present decade, the American public has been shocked by the political assassinations of three well known public figures. One of these was Robert F. Kennedy who was assassinated during a victory celebration at the end of the California primary in 1968.The alleged assassin, Sirhan Bishara Sirhan, a Jordinian immigrant to the United States, pleaded that he committed the murder out of love for Jordan and a loss of faith in Robert F. Kennedy. The public was made aware of Sirhan’s trial through the mass media. The coverage of the trial was somewhat restricted because of laws forbidding any …

Flannery O'Connor And The Development Of The Grotesque In American Literature, Joan Rae Griffin Jan 1970

Flannery O'Connor And The Development Of The Grotesque In American Literature, Joan Rae Griffin

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

When man's view of himself as a being in his universe changes with the tide of events, literary conventions change as well. There is very little in contemporary life that would contradict the assumption that man's view of himself and of his world is no longer governed by the assurance of reason or the confidence of prediction. When certainty of man's place in the universe was commonly accepted, for instance in the eighteenth-century, this assurance was reflected in a literature which was essentially rational and ordered. In the last two centuries, drastic upheavals in the course of human events have …

A Comparative Analysis Of Selected Characteristics Of Male And Female Felony Offenders In Washington State Adult Correctional Institutions, 1964-1969, Vincent A. Van Der Hyde Jr.

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

The female offender as an object for sociological study is of interest for several reasons. Among them are, first, the fact that little empirical evidence has been gathered about female offenders: second, the possible impact such knowledge may have on criminological theory building: and third, the necessity of having such knowledge for predictive, control, and rehabilitative functions. The lack of information and research has been noted by many researchers. This thesis is a part of a collateral effort of the Division of Research, Department of Institutions, in Washington State, which is in the process of gathering data on convicted female …

The Identification Of Changing Sex Roles Within A Family Unit As Perceived By First Graders, Janelle Fridley Jones

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Family life education includes the total education for living in families. The main emphasis of all home economics or homemaking education is life as it is lived within the home and family. Some aspects of home economics are usually included in the curriculum at all age levels from early childhood through secondary education. Family life in America has changed over the years. Such factors as family mobility, a greater amount of leisure time, an increase in early marriages, and more mothers employed outside the home indicate the need for education in family living. Moreover, currently fewer youngsters learn about homemaking …
