Adjustment Of Rural And Urban Residents In Five Retirement Homes In Northeastern Wisconsin, Grace E. Kiefert
Adjustment Of Rural And Urban Residents In Five Retirement Homes In Northeastern Wisconsin, Grace E. Kiefert
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The need for this study is indicated by gaps in gerontological research and information. Until the last twenty years, studies were not often made of the many aspects of the aged in society; and currently, many questions in this field remain unanswered. Some studies have dealt with the physical setting of the retirement homes, but the individual's perception of the home has not been studied. The actual physical conditions of the homes are inconsequential to this study because the residents' perception of the situation· is critical to adjustment. This will provide the focus for this study. The objectives of this study …

The basic objective was to explore the nature and extent of this relation. Literature was reviewed dealing with the relation of reference groups to classical and contemporary theory. Literature related to reference theory dealing with medical students and ministerial specialization was also dealt with. The basic theoretical model used was that of Merton. Planned Educational Progress In The Mitchell Public School System, Donald Jesse Mclean
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
There is but one major purpose for the existence of the public schools in the American society. That purpose is to provide the best possible education for the nation’s children. Several elements are required to make this successful program a reality within a given community. The school board and administration must provide for at least three important ingredients, the first being a system of well-designed school buildings. The second is the employment of well- prepared teachers and the third is a well-planned curriculum. To accomplish a successful program it is necessary to continually evaluate all three areas. Schizophrenia, as we know, is considered one of the most serious of personality disturbances and accounts for a high proportion of the admissions to mental hospitals. There are over 20,000 schizophrenics entering mental hospitals in the United States yearly. Prior to the use of convulsive therapy the prognosis for schizophrenic patients was regarded as poor, and no methods …

When the Congress of the United States ratified the treaty, service and relief in time of epidemics and disasters was included with the permission of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva. Although the Red Cross in …

In July 1946 the Board of Health of Louisville and Jefferson County, Kentucky, announced its decision to curtail services of the public health department serving the metropolitan area surrounding and including Louisville, and the outlying agricultural region in the rural part of Jefferson County. In the past decade the combined health department for Louisville and for Jefferson County had accomplished much for the health needs of the citizens of the community. Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Since 1909, the King's Daughters' Home for Incurables in Louisville, Kentucky, has provided institutional care for physically handicapped persons who are residents of Kentucky. A hospital survey done by the Kentucky State Board of Health in 1945-46 classified the Home as a "custodial-type institution", and did not include it in the survey, as it was not considered a hospital. Surveys on phases of the work of the institution were done in 1914 (Haven Emerson Survey) and in 1940 (Health and Welfare Council Survey) for administrative purposes. This year the work of the Home has provided the material for three theses …

Electronic Theses and Dissertations
It would be impossible to single out any individual or group and give credit tor the development of the Raymond A. Kent School of Social Work. There are names which bring to mind real achievement and tremendous effort in the field which they had chosen and to which they had dedicated their service; names which lived through years of discouragement and disillusionment; names which perhaps have been forgotten with the passage of time but played vital roles in different periods of the development of the school. This, therefore, is not an account of things happening, but in reality, an account …

Since this was true, the question arose …
