The Effect Of Test Cell Glass Cylinder Diameter On Gaseous Insulation Dielectric Strength, Thomas J. Lanoue
The Effect Of Test Cell Glass Cylinder Diameter On Gaseous Insulation Dielectric Strength, Thomas J. Lanoue
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Areas of Investigation 1. To determine the effect of test cell glass cylinder diameter on gaseous insulation dielectric strength for uniform and non-uniform fields through experimental results and field plots. 2. To obtain an upper limit for gap spacing in different size test cells for uniform and non-uniform fields. 3. To determine the effect of frequent change of gas in cell during test. 4. To determine extraneous effects, such as cell clamps. 5. To suggest the size in which a test cell should be to obtain good results in gaseous insulation dielectric strength tests. These areas will be investigated by …
Patterns Of Change In The Spatial And Functional Aspects Of Trade Centers And Trade Areas In South Dakota, Ralph James Brown
Patterns Of Change In The Spatial And Functional Aspects Of Trade Centers And Trade Areas In South Dakota, Ralph James Brown
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Rapid changes have occurred in the Great Plains over the years. At the turn of the century, the small towns that dotted the country-side served as full-service centers for the surrounding territory. They provided all the necessary marketing facilities and consumer goods as well as acting as centers for social functions. In the intervening years, some of these centers have increased tremendously in size while others have ceased to grow or have, in fact, declined. The profound economic and technological advances in farming, marketing, transportation, and merchandising have affected the number, size, functions, and viability of the cities and towns. …
Effects Of Photoperiods And Temperatures Upon Early Growth Of Tall Fescue & Ladino Clover At Various Lengths Of Growing Period, Chavalit Chalothorn
Effects Of Photoperiods And Temperatures Upon Early Growth Of Tall Fescue & Ladino Clover At Various Lengths Of Growing Period, Chavalit Chalothorn
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea) is widely grown in the Pacific coast and in the southern states of the United States. In the south, its greatest value is to provide winter grazing. During summer months, it either goes dormant, dies out or cannot compete with adapted warm season species. However, tall fescue is considered to have a wide adaptation. One variety of tall fescue with a large acreage is Kentucky 31, which comes into prominence because of its ability to make considerable growth and provide pasturage during the winter and early spring. Ladino clover (Trifolium repens var. Ladino) is one of …
Optimum Movement Of Feeder Calves And Feed Grains Within South Dakota With Implications For Slaughter Plant Location, Valentine M. Heier
Optimum Movement Of Feeder Calves And Feed Grains Within South Dakota With Implications For Slaughter Plant Location, Valentine M. Heier
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The basic economic activity in South Dakota is agriculture. Therefore, it is essential to the economic position of the state that information is made available which can serve as a guide in developing the agricultural industries within the state. The purpose of this study is to provide such information to the cattle feeding and beef slaughtering industries. Livestock data indicate that a large proportion of the cattle produced in South Dakota is shipped out of the state for fattening and slaughter. Data also indicate that the state is an exporter of feed grains. It seems that if these feeder cattle …

A Survey Of School Districts In Boyd County, Nebraska, 1965-1966, Robert Stuerman
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Today, due to the ever-increasing educational requirements laid down by states and the increasing costs of education, many of the smaller districts have either been forced to close down or are lacking in one or more of the state requirements and are on the verge of losing their accreditation and ultimately their school. Dennis M. David made a survey of 135 citizens in five mid-western states and showed that only one-fourth of the people were aware that the purpose of reorganization of school districts is to provide better education. It has been shown through surveys of Nebraska County high school …
Fox-Prey Relationships In Eastern South Dakota, Robert L. Drieslein
Fox-Prey Relationships In Eastern South Dakota, Robert L. Drieslein
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Relationships between red foxes (Vulpes fulva) end their principal prey, particularly ring-necked pheasants (Phasianus colchicus), were studied on four units in eastern South Dakota from December 1964 to September 1966. Each unit was composed of a 100-square-mile "reduction area," on which fox populations were reduced, and a 100-square-mile "check area," on which fox populations were not reduced for the study. Indices to populations of foxes, pheasants, mice, eastern cottontails (Svlvilagus floridanus) and whitetail jackrabbits (Lepus townsendi) were obtained and used to evaluate food habits and the effect of predator reduction on prey populations. Four-hundred seventeen stomachs and 104 female reproductive …
