Some Bacteriological And Biochemical Aspects Of Alfalfa Silage Prepared At Different Moisture Levels, Gene W. Ronald
Some Bacteriological And Biochemical Aspects Of Alfalfa Silage Prepared At Different Moisture Levels, Gene W. Ronald
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The object of this study is to elucidate the facts observed in the experimental trails of emailing alfalfa in terms of microbiological populations and some biochemical analyses. The problems in the study is involved with the production of a good quality silage are evident when individual alfalfa samples, apparently alike in all respects, do not produce uniform products. The necessity of understanding the basic mechanism of the silage fermentation process, in order that a better quality silage may be produced with some degree of consistency, is obvious.
Effect Of Time Of Fertilizer Application On Yield And Quality Of Oats And Barley, John J. Mortvedt
Effect Of Time Of Fertilizer Application On Yield And Quality Of Oats And Barley, John J. Mortvedt
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The level of soil moisture at the time of small grain planting is very often low and many farmers are hesitant to invest in fertilizer for small grain. In May, when the moisture outlook generally improves and when nitrogen deficiency symptoms have appeared in the small grain, farmers are interested in knowing if the application of fertilizer will still give a profitable response. The main objective of this study was to determine the effect of the time of application of fertilizer on the yield of small grain and also on the quality as measured by the protein content. A supplementary …
The Design And Evaluation Of A Heat Pump Heating And Cooling System For A 1000 Bird Windowless Cage Layer Poultry House In South Dakota, Donald D. Hamann
The Design And Evaluation Of A Heat Pump Heating And Cooling System For A 1000 Bird Windowless Cage Layer Poultry House In South Dakota, Donald D. Hamann
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The objective of this study was to apply that heat pump to a poultry house and to find the most efficient and convenient manner in which it can be utilized. Installation of a heat pump in the poultry house would provide an opportunity to determine experimentally the possibility of maintaining poultry house temperature within the recommended range during all seasons of the year.
An Investigation Of The Relationships Among Various Language Skills Of Freshman English Students At South Dakota State College, Paul A. Elsner
An Investigation Of The Relationships Among Various Language Skills Of Freshman English Students At South Dakota State College, Paul A. Elsner
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The primary objective of this study would be to determine the interrelationships of various language skills. For example, if one skill is more highly related at all others, we might suppose that is could be used as a “core” or pivotal area around which others would be taught. The minor objective of this study would be determine the degree of improvement among students in several skill areas. How much improvement was made? And in what areas did the students improve? However, it would probably be beyond the purpose of this study to offer adequate appraisals of the program.

Electronic Theses and Dissertations
It was the problem of this study to answer the question: How effective is the program for the teaching of language skills at South Dakota state college in providing students with the level of proficiency which they need in the study of technical subjects?

A Spectrophotometric Investigation Of The System Iron (Iii) Perchlorate-Ethylene Glycol-Water, Glenn H. Allcott
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The need for a more complete quantitative description of aqueous electrolytic solutions has led to a renewal, in recent years, of interest in determining the stability constants and formulas for the species present are not as simple as previously believed. Of particular interest are the species formed by the interaction of polyvalent metal ions with the solvent molecules and with the anions present. It was felt that an investigation pf a polyvalent metal ion in a mixed solvent could be of value in helping to clarify the interaction of metal ions with the solvent. This investigation was planned as a …
Evaluation Of Final Weight In The Selection Of Performance Tested Bulls, Delwyn D. Dearborn
Evaluation Of Final Weight In The Selection Of Performance Tested Bulls, Delwyn D. Dearborn
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Selection of herd sires, in the past, by the beef breeders in South Dakota has primarily been based on type. In general, the beef breeder has attempted to purchase the bull with the most attractive conformation based on his personal judgement. This method of selection has brought limited progress to the largest industry in South Dakota from which 35% of the cash farm income is derived. The purpose of this study was to check the feasibility of using final weight as a criterion in the selection of performance tested bulls. The other phases of the study concerned final weight as …
The Size Of High Schools In South Dakota As A Variable In Developmental Ability, Barbara Denbow Sinclair
The Size Of High Schools In South Dakota As A Variable In Developmental Ability, Barbara Denbow Sinclair
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This study attempts to show the relationship of developed ability and achievement to size of high school. The feeling that an ultimate criteria for determining optimum school size should be student achievement prompted an investigation based on the following purposes: 1) to compare the ability and developed ability of student groups from high schools differing in enrollments, using the variable size of high school; 2) to determine whether a relationship exists between first year college grade point average and size of high school; and 3) using the same variable as mentioned previously, to contrast college freshmen English grades. The student …

Attitudes Of Students Studying Huxley's Brave New World: An Analysis, David Kenneth Adams
Attitudes Of Students Studying Huxley's Brave New World: An Analysis, David Kenneth Adams
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The central concern of this study will be this: will the study of a specific work of literature have a statistically significant effect upon the attitudes of students toward the problems dealt with in that work? This problem grew out of a consideration of the difficulties involved in an earlier and now discarded study. A choice of weather to use Aldous Huxley’s point or his Brave new world was to be made, and point counterpoint seemed the better choice for that study; but the book chosen has to be taught to freshman English students. The immediate problem was one of …
Supplemental Milkroom Heating Using The Heat Extracted By The Bulk Milk Cooling System, Harvey Gordon Young
Supplemental Milkroom Heating Using The Heat Extracted By The Bulk Milk Cooling System, Harvey Gordon Young
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This investigation dealt with an evaluation of the heat extracted from milk during the cooling operation as a supplementary heat source for maintaining milkhouse temperatures during cold weather. It involved the design of a bulk milk cooler installation incorporating remote placement of the compressor to eliminate the sum mer ventilation problem and a venting system whereby air from the milkhouse may be circulated over the condenser coil during cold weather to pick up the heat rejected by the cooling unit. A comparison study was made of the energy requirements of an electri c space heater in maintaining milkhouse temperatures both …
