A Study And Analysis Of The Stochastic Model And Assumptions Used In Pert, Leon Burnell Ellwein
A Study And Analysis Of The Stochastic Model And Assumptions Used In Pert, Leon Burnell Ellwein
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
In recent years we have seen significant advances in technology. The present period has often been called the Age of Massive Engineering by many authorities. This high rate of advancement has been initiated and supported by the space race as well as the demands of industry. New technologies provide the backbone for new and complex development projects which in turn end up as management’s responsibility for administration. The importance of time and efficiency in controlling a project is at the top of management’s list. Many times the success of a project depends as much on the time of completion as …
Laboratory Investigation Of A Model Multi-Tube Closed Conduit Spillway, Delvin D. Brosz
Laboratory Investigation Of A Model Multi-Tube Closed Conduit Spillway, Delvin D. Brosz
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Renewed interest in the hydraulic performance of closed conduits is evidenced by the number of studies reported since 1950. The hydraulics of closed conduit spillways is not as simple as previous thoughts had indicated and is a reason for the renewed interest. Another reason is that many of these structures are being constructed each year and small savings or improvements in each structure generally result in a large total savings (8). The closed conduit spillway is of considerable importance, especially when it is considered that the common culverts used by highway engineers; the “trickle tubes,” drop inlet culverts, and uncontrolled …

Some Operational Aspects Of The General Rental Industry, Robert C. Elmen
Some Operational Aspects Of The General Rental Industry, Robert C. Elmen
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
There is evidence that the rental industry has now matured to
a point where significant management principles have evolved and with them accounting sophistication both of which are necessary for critical analysis. The purpose of this study was to establish an analytical framework with which investors, creditors, and other interested parties might determine the feasibility of establishing new businesses or expanding old ones, or for use in correcting deficiencies in operating results of existing ones. Financial analysis relies rather heavily on ratios as standards, or measures for comparisons. Ratios, in this context, can be in any form that relates one …
Limnology Of Three Farm Ponds In South-Central South Dakota, Larry Kim Graham
Limnology Of Three Farm Ponds In South-Central South Dakota, Larry Kim Graham
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Physical, chemical, and biological aspects of three farm ponds in south-central South Dakota were studied from June 1964 until December 1965. Maximum water temperature at the surface reached 25.2 C, while water temperatures at the bottom of the ponds were about 2 to 4C lower than the surface. Light transmission was influenced by turbidity but generally penetrated to the bottom of the ponds except during periods of cloudy ice and snow cover. Dissolved oxygen was near saturation during periods of open water. Most chemical ions in the ponds increased annually from a winter minimum to a spring maximum. Total dissolved …

An Analysis Of The Comparative Reading Times For 11-Pica And 15-Pica Copy, Jack Wesley Nuckols
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Research concerning reading speed, type size, leading, and line width has been conducted in a systematic way for the past 50 years. The Minnesota eye-movement camera was used to reveal the specific patterns of eye movements involved in reading optimal versus non-optimal lines widths. In contradiction to Tinker and Paterson, Matthew Luckiesh and Frank Moss concluded that the readability of 10-point Text type with 2 points of leading diminishes as the length of line is increased from 13 to about 21 picas; and that further increases in the line length result in less important changes in readability. Leading (spacing between …
Opportunities And Training Needs In Non-Farm Agricultural Occupations In A South-Western Iowa School District, Robert L. Madden
Opportunities And Training Needs In Non-Farm Agricultural Occupations In A South-Western Iowa School District, Robert L. Madden
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Various prominent figures on the American agricultural scene, farm magazine editors, and even, to a lesser degree, the general public have become aware of the need for skilled employees in agricultural non-farm occupations. While most vocational agriculture educators recognize the need and are quite willing to help solve the problem, they frequently are working blindly. Which occupations and jobs in a given community have need for high school vocational training? What is the employment outlook in these occupations for the foreseeable future? This study was expected to identify, describe, and classify non-farm agricultural jobs in the Hamburg community in order …
An Inquiry Into The Acceptability Of Unjustified Composition And Omission Of Column Rules To Newspaper Readers, Karl E. Ruthenbeck
An Inquiry Into The Acceptability Of Unjustified Composition And Omission Of Column Rules To Newspaper Readers, Karl E. Ruthenbeck
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
For several decades every conceivable cost item in newspaper production has been scrutinized to squeeze out a few pennies of savings here and there. Page shrinkage has been increased, column measures reduced, margins out, composing machines speeded up, teletype setters and computers introduced all for the purpose of cutting costs. Concurrently with the need for reduced costs, some editors feel the need for increased readability and a change in the appearance of their newspapers. Experimentation has been taking place in using the unjustified line (uneven right hand margins) as a means of moving toward the objectives of lower costs and …
A Social System Analysis Of The Changing Food Practices Of The Teton Dakota Indians, 1800-1900, Norma R. Seerley
A Social System Analysis Of The Changing Food Practices Of The Teton Dakota Indians, 1800-1900, Norma R. Seerley
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Food is a necessary element for satisfying a basic need of man. Without it, man could not exist. All of these foods have caloric values and vitamin content, and all are available to the various societies. A society also defines the purpose and emphasis to be given food. It may be a means for stilling hunger or getting nutrition; it may regard eating as a duty or virtue, or as a gustatory pleasure, or even as a social or religious communion. The Dakota’s choice of foods was originally fashioned by the kinds of foods available. Through recordings in history, the …
The Results Of One Year Of Counseling And Tutoring On Two Seventh Grade Adjusted Curriculum Illiterates, Janet Broomfield Boone
The Results Of One Year Of Counseling And Tutoring On Two Seventh Grade Adjusted Curriculum Illiterates, Janet Broomfield Boone
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to develop a technique whereby this adolescent nonreader of potentially average metal ability would be enabled to step from the shadow of illiteracy into enlightening experience of reading. Introspection preceded other investigation. The qualities of an effective teacher-counselor were restudied and reevaluated. Another purpose of this study was to determine the effect of an accepting, supportive atmosphere on the learning of illiterates of potentially average mental ability. Reading skills would be developed in a private one-to-one relationship where learning could be experienced by the pupil. The two subjects in this study had been previously …
