Moraxella (Branhamella) Catarrhalis: A Molecular Epidemiology Study, Lyndell R. Gill

Moraxella (Branhamella) catarrhalis is the third-most-frequently isolated microorganism associated with acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis in patients during their stay at the Mountain Home VA Medical Center (MHVAMC). In order to develop a practical, epidemiologically-meaningful typing method for M. (B.) catarrhalis, we tested two methods based on analysis of chromosomal DNA for typeability, reproducibility, and ability to differentiate between unrelated strains (discriminatory power, D). M. (B.) catarrhalis isolants from MHVAMC from 7/1/87-6/30/88 were grown overnight in broth and embedded in agarose. DNA was isolated by standard methods. Fighting For Peaceful Fighting: A Teaching Ministry Moving Church Members From Suppressing To Managing Conflict, Randy Willingham

The purpose of this study is to develop a seminar that offers a conflictual church an alternative way of managing conflict. The project begins by identifying one church's major obstacles to conflict engagement. These identified obstacles are a rigid theology supporting unhealthy conflict patterns, a high level of anxiety concerning conflict, a lack of skill in addressing conflict because of adaptation to conflict suppression, and a variety of unhealthy habitual responses to conflict.

The purpose of this study was to determine the extent of congruence between teachers' and undergraduate education majors' learning styles in selected colleges of the Tennessee Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, and to determine if the style congruence was related to student perceptions of the classroom learning environment. Bioenergetics Of Walleye In Lake Oahe, South Dakota, Scott D. Bryan

The food habits, caloric density, and population dynamics of walleye Stizostedion vitreum were determined in 1993 and 1994 and combined with information on energetics and growth to determine the trophic interactions of walleyes in Lake Oahe, South Dakota. Monofilament gill nets were set at three depths in the water column (bottom, suspended, and surface) from May through September, 1994 to determine the effect of gill net placement on catch rates of walleyes. Catch per unit effort of walleyes was greater in bottom nets during July (5.2/net-h) than any other month or net location. In addition, 25- and 38-mm mesh sizes …
