An Analysis Of Gender Differentials In Twenty-Seven Motivational Variables Influencing Career Aspirations Of Teachers And Administrators, Loretta G. Bailey
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This study investigated a range of motivational variables which might lead individuals to become educational administrators. Identified and reported are those variables which are viewed by teachers who comprised the pool from which most future administrators are drawn. Twenty-seven items were identified and used on an instrument, designed by the writer. The null hypothesis for statistical differences between male and female educators was tested on each of the 27 items at the .05 level of significance, using multivariate analysis of variance and the test of simple main effects. A 20% sample of randomly selected male and female administrators produced 371 …

Perception Of Women Public School Superintendents In Five Southeastern States (Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina), Peace U. Anyaocha
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The problem of the study was to determine the perceived leadership behavior of female superintendents as compared to male superintendents. An instrument was constructed from American Association of Secondary Administrators' recommendations for superior performance of school administrators and subsequently validated. A demographic data sheet accompanied the survey instrument. The subjects were selected from southern states in which there were more than five women superintendents officially listed by the State Board of Education. The states included Arkansas, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The survey instrument was forwarded to 350 subjects; 172 subjects responded from the five states. The sample …

An Analysis Of The Exchange Relationships In A Voluntary Organization Network Undergoing Structural Change, Gary A. Goreham
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Using Richard Emerson's exchange network analysis, exchange relations in the South Dakota 4-H program were examined. South Dakota 4-H is comprised of both paid staff and volunteer leaders. It is currently undergoing structural change through the implementation of the Key Leader System. The Key Leader System involves appointing county level Key Leaders and club level Project Leaders to disseminate information to 4-H members and to assist them with their projects. Survey data, interviews, and State Fair results were collected to test hypotheses generated by exchange network analysis. Both clubs and counties varied in the degree to which they had implemented …

A New Assessment Of The Archaeological Significance Of The Ashworth Site (15bu236)., Philip James Diblasi 1954-
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Reinvestigation of a National Register property, the Ashworth Rockshelter (15BU236), northeast of Shepardsville, Bullitt Co., Kentucky, revealed stratified Early Archaic through Mississippian components (ca. 7900 B.C.-1500 A.D.). Primary occupation occurred under the shelter and eight meters (horizontally) of talus were located. The depth of the deposit is two meters, the lowest third representing the Early Archaic period. Forty-five culturally-diagnostic projectile points delineated the strata. Seven well-preserved burials indicate early mortality, severe physical conditions, and a preference to bury under the shelter. Well-preserved mollusks and vertebrate remains indicate a subsistence shift from aquatic to forest-edge communities from Early to Late Archaic …

Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The problem was to determine whether selected psycholinguistic instructional aids were effective in remediating learning deficiencies among early elementary children (grades 1-3). Research surveyed included auditory perception skills, language skills, motor skills, and visual perception skills. Data were collected from test groups of students in grade levels one, two, and three. A stratified random sampling technique yielded a sample of thirty-six students, eighteen males and eighteen females. Each of the three grade level groups in the sample …

Electronic Theses and Dissertations
A number of researchers have studied the media habits of the general public. They have examined the habits of adults, teenagers and numerous other groups. Only a few researchers have examined the college-aged group, a group which includes both teenagers and adults, and which may reflect unique patterns of media use. This study was designed to examine the news media used by selected subgroups of the college population. The population from which the subjects were chosen for this study included students who were enrolled at South Dakota State University in the fall semester of 1980. The purpose of this study …
