The adolescent period is recognized as a crucial one in the development of individuals. This study is centered on the nutritional status of girls who are in this stage of development. Cooperative regional studies by experiment stations and school lunch studies in several states have covered many phases of nutritional status for various population groups in recent years. Investigators agrees that there is need for further information in regard to the dietary practices and nutritional status of adolescents, and there appears to be the greatest concern with respect to adolescent girls. The purpose of the study is to determine the present competitive status of Northern alfalfa seed producers and dealers and to analyze alternative plans for improving their status. In order to meet this ultimate objective it is necessary to: describe the Northern alfalfa seed industry and to analyze the factors responsible for the change in its competitive status. Define and investigate the major markets for Northern alfalfa seed. Present some possible solutions for regaining and expanding these markets.

The Indian peoples of the Americas, as well as non-literate peoples around the world, have been swept or are being swept from their cultural moorings by their contacts with ‘white’ civilization. These cultures, whose values center around permanence and patience, have been engulfed in an expanding social order which exalts change. Impelled by its time oriented concepts of progress, opportunity, profit, speed, and efficiency, civilization’s contacts with familizational cultures have been uprooting, breaking, and crushing.
