A Hermeneutic Phenomenological Study Of The Lived Experiences Of Elementary Teachers In Inclusion Classrooms, Julie Elise Brown
A Hermeneutic Phenomenological Study Of The Lived Experiences Of Elementary Teachers In Inclusion Classrooms, Julie Elise Brown
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The purpose of this hermeneutic phenomenological study was to understand the lived experiences of elementary teachers in inclusion classrooms. The theory which guided this study was Bandura’s (2006) social cognitive theory as it related to the lived experiences of teacher preparedness for teaching in inclusion classrooms. Successful inclusion-setting outcomes were attributed to a teacher’s perception and attitude toward disabilities and their ability to teach them. This study was designed to answer the following central research question: What are the lived experiences of teachers regarding their preparation for teaching in elementary-level inclusion classrooms? Three sub-questions were used to understand the lived …
A Phenomenological Study Of The Perception Of Racial Unity In Evangelical Churches In Chicago, Amber L. Harvey
A Phenomenological Study Of The Perception Of Racial Unity In Evangelical Churches In Chicago, Amber L. Harvey
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
“Racism in the United States is part of a much older and global phenomenon” that has effects that are seen “today in hearts, minds, and institutions” (Lovelace, 2021, p. 67). Regarding the African American population, housing discrimination continues to be an obstacle to families (Burke et al., 2018), racist systems have led to collateral damage in the health of adults (Bleich et al., 2019), and African American men constitute approximately 25% of police shooting victims (Schwartz, 2020). This study seeks to examine if racism has infiltrated into the local church. The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to explore …
A Phenomenology Of Naturally Embedded Trauma-Informed Practices Within Public Montessori Classroom Environments, Misty Autry Lewis
A Phenomenology Of Naturally Embedded Trauma-Informed Practices Within Public Montessori Classroom Environments, Misty Autry Lewis
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The purpose of this phenomenological study was to describe the lived experiences of 12 classroom teachers in different public Montessori schools in four different geographical regions of the United States. The interview was designed to allow the teachers to describe their Montessorian approach regarding areas of safety, social interaction, and respectful classroom environments to support students who may be experiencing the consequences of childhood trauma. The theories that guided this study were Albert Bandura’s (1977) social cognitive theory and the humanistic or person-centered theory of Carl Rogers (Rogers & Kramer, 1995). These theories facilitated the development of an understanding of …

Lived Experiences Of New Graduate Nurses Transitioning To The Emergency Department: A Transcendental Phenomenological Approach, Donnie E. Johnson Jr.
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The transition to practice period is a challenging time for all new graduate nurses. It is well documented that the emergency department is a challenging environment. Due to multiple factors, the specialty areas including the emergency department (ED) are hiring more new graduate nurses to fill the open positions. There is a gap in the literature concerning the transition experiences of new graduate nurses to the emergency department. The purpose of this qualitative, transcendental, phenomenological study is to understand the transition to practice experience of new graduate nurses in the ED in a teaching hospital in eastern North Carolina. An Examination Of The Parental Role In The Discipleship Of Children, Robert B. Jarman
An Examination Of The Parental Role In The Discipleship Of Children, Robert B. Jarman
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Parents have an enormous role in the lives of their children. They are responsible for all aspects of their children’s development to prepare them to manage adulthood successfully. Parents invest much of their time in many important areas of the home, yet regarding discipleship, they will often pass on that responsibility to others or neglect it altogether. The danger of a lack of discipleship in the home is that it can potentially contribute to the growing trend of young adults leaving the faith. This thesis project examines the Biblical mandate for parents discipling their children, the reasons for parents not …
Mitigating Turnover In Healthcare: Exploring Servant Leadership And Psychological Capital, Lindsay Tsang
Mitigating Turnover In Healthcare: Exploring Servant Leadership And Psychological Capital, Lindsay Tsang
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, understanding factors that influence the turnover intentions of healthcare workers is critical. This quantitative correlational study explored how psychological capital mediates the relationship between perceived supervisor servant leadership and turnover intentions among Canadian healthcare workers. This study uses the Hayes PROCESS Model 4 for mediation and Pearson’s correlation analysis with participants recruited via social media. Out of 773 respondents, 648 valid responses were received (83.8%), of which the majority were aged between 24-34 years old (74.7%), were nurses (80.2%), and had tenure between six to ten years (75%). In agreement with prior literature, …
The Differences In Covid-19 Infection Rates: An Examination Of Residential Care Communities (Rccs), Han Yang
The Differences In Covid-19 Infection Rates: An Examination Of Residential Care Communities (Rccs), Han Yang
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Infection control practices (ICPs) are crucial for maintaining the health and safety of residents in a residential care community (RCC). This paper examines the differences in COVID-19 infection rates and cases based on the characteristics of RCCs, such as ICPs, personal protective equipment (PPE) shortages, ownership type (for-profit vs. nonprofit), census regions, and RCC size. While ICPs contribute significantly to preventing and controlling the highly contagious virus, a comprehensive program is encouraged to provide a targeted intervention based on RCC’s environmental factors. The importance of the characteristics of the RCCs must be considered in combing with the ICPs to enhance …
The Influence Of Teacher Exhaustion On Attrition Involving Primary Teachers: A Qualitative Study, Carson Kleinknecht
The Influence Of Teacher Exhaustion On Attrition Involving Primary Teachers: A Qualitative Study, Carson Kleinknecht
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The purpose of this single-case qualitative case study was to discover the perceived influence teacher exhaustion may have on educator attrition for primary school teachers in one urban school district in central South Carolina. Abraham Maslow’s theory of human motivation was utilized as the theoretical framework for this study as it explains how an inability to meet the needs of teachers can result in teacher exhaustion and an increase in attrition. Maslow’s theory assisted in understanding how the stress and exhaustion that teachers experience can influence teacher retention in primary schools. This qualitative case study utilized a central research question: …

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The purpose of this quantitative correlational study was to examine the relationship between academic indicators (grade point average, Scholastic Assessment Test score, and type of school) and student reported loneliness. Weiss’ theory of loneliness was used as the foundation for this quantitative, correlational study. This study was conducted to create a framework for teachers, mentors, or other educational leaders to be able to locate and address student loneliness in a timely manner by understanding the educational indicators that are related to student loneliness. Loneliness is correlated to a variety of negative mental and physical health problems, along with increasing risky …

Artificial Intelligence And Its Need In Healthcare, Michael Haskins
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Artificial intelligence (AI) has bombarded many of the global industries with promises to improve day-to-day operations, while augmenting decision-making and providing simplistic solutions. The healthcare industry has begun to observe the uptick in AI as well, with challenges of quality, costs, and access historically actualized; leaving healthcare leaders with decisions to make about adopting AI into their facilities. With the dynamic provisions that AI is driving in industry, there is still not a holistic adoption due to many fears and unknowns. A pulse into the minds of healthcare leaders is needed to understand the relationship between AI and healthcare.
