In The Shadows Of Autism: A Collective Case Study On Life With A Sibling With Autism In A Military Family, Jennifer M. Henderson-Rudling
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The purpose of this collective case study was to understand the typically developing (TD) sibling's well-being and role in a military family with a child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) on a military post through the parent and TD sibling perspective. The three theories which guided this research include the social cognitive theory (Bandura, 2001a), self-determination theory (Ryan and Deci, 2000), and family system theory (Bowen, 1966). These theories were utilized to evaluate and better understand the motivations, characteristics, and the social development within the family when one child has a diagnosis of ASD. The research questions were: (1) How …
The Relationship Of Christian Education To Adolescent Students' Biblical Worldview, Jason G. Nave
The Relationship Of Christian Education To Adolescent Students' Biblical Worldview, Jason G. Nave
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Our worldview affects all things in our lives – even our education. Every education has a founding premise or bias which either espouses a biblical worldview or does not. In addition to the factual content, it is typically delivered or taught by someone with a particular premise or bias. Perspectives vary from person to person, and therefore, so can what they believe to be true. The need for true knowledge to be imparted in an absolutely true context is necessary. Thus, there is the need for a biblical worldview to be established. This study is aimed at assessing the relationship, …

Parental Perspectives On Twenty-First Century Learning Environments In Private Middle Schools: A Phenomenological Study, Matthew Oswald Ozolnieks
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Over the last decade instructional technology has experienced tremendous growth in adoption and implementation throughout K-12 schools; pedagogy has shifted to keep pace. Within this growth of technological and pedagogical adoption and implementation a lag has emerged. While teachers and administrators have worked hard to maintain the pace with regard to changes, a major stakeholder (i.e. the parents), have struggled to keep up. The purpose of this transcendental phenomenological study was to better understand the experiences of parents with middle school students enrolled in private, twenty-first century learning model/technology-rich ACSI schools in South Florida. The theory guiding this study was …

Decreasing Caregiver Stress, Dexter Ramos
Decreasing Caregiver Stress, Dexter Ramos
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Stress is both critical and personal experience and has significant effects on caregivers’ physical, mental, and social well-being. The nature of caregiving and the responsibility to work and serve individuals at their illness conditions are very personal encounters that often result in adverse effects on the health and well-being of caregivers (Frederick, 2016). A decrease in stress experience can lead to the satisfaction of caregiver roles and improvement of patient’s quality of life (Choi, Jisun & Boyle, Diane, 2013; Yada, Nagata, & Inagaki, 2014). This scholarly project determined that evidence-based stress management interventions have decreased the perceived stress in caregivers. …
Effect Of Cultural Differences On Budgetary Slack, Shawn L. Robey
Effect Of Cultural Differences On Budgetary Slack, Shawn L. Robey
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Budgeting enables the firm to allocate resources among subunits (Braun & Tietz, 2018). Gallani, Krishman, Marinich, and Shields (2018) noted that providing employees an opportunity to misreport private information is a disadvantage of employee participation in the budgeting process. Research suggests that perceptions of unfairness can result in increased misreporting by subordinates (Fisher, Peffer, Sprinkle, & Williamson, 2015). Individuals value fairness and equity in resource allocation settings (Drake, Matuszewski, & Miller, 2014). Ethics Position Theory (EPT) suggests that people’s reactions in morally toned situations can be traced to variations in their intuitive, personal moral philosophies. According to Forsyth, O'Boyle, and …

Leader Behavior In Successfully Completing An Erp Implementation At An Army Installation, Roy T. Ray Jr
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) has emerged as one of the breakthrough information technologies that can reshape business practices. The Army ERP systems are the central component of the Army’s business mission process. However, these ERP systems have yet to provide Army-wide, enterprise-level integration and resource visibility, which is needed to increase efficiency and effectiveness of Army operations and justify the cost of future ERP investment. Few companies complete their ERP implementation on time and within budget, and the incidences of underperformance and failure are incredibly high. Current research notes that the primary determinant of a successful ERP implementation is leadership. …

This study sought to examine the Christian worldview of K-12 Christian educators from ACSI member Christian schools in California. Participants took the Three-Dimensional Worldview Survey (3DWS) and the Worldview Measurement Project Survey (WMPS). Christian educators participated in this study voluntarily and anonymously. The survey results were analyzed to determine if the 3DWS correlated to the WMPS …
The Impact Of Lyric Choices On Spiritual Edification, Hanna Jane Byrd
The Impact Of Lyric Choices On Spiritual Edification, Hanna Jane Byrd
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Modern Christian worship music has gained influence within the evangelical community. The words of these songs, sung corporately, have the potential to influence the spiritual lives of church congregants, making it important for worship leaders and songwriters to identify the most beneficial lyrics. Despite numerous opinions about theological and personally relevant lyrics, little research has been conducted on the spiritual effects of lyric content within the lives of Christian believers. Diminutive scholarly inquiry has been limited to historical, theological or qualitative methodologies. Utilizing the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) and the Spiritual Transcendence Index (STI), this quantitative quasi-experimental study …

The Logic Of Intersubjectivity: Brian Mclaren’S Philosophy Of Christian Religion, Darren M. Slade
The Logic Of Intersubjectivity: Brian Mclaren’S Philosophy Of Christian Religion, Darren M. Slade
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
To survey harsh criticisms against Brian Douglas McLaren (1956‒), readers gain the inaccurate impression that he is a heretical relativist who denies objective truth and logic. While McLaren’s inflammatory and provocative writing style is partly to blame, this study also suspects that his critics base much of their analyses on only small portions of his overall corpus. The result becomes a caricature of McLaren’s actual philosophy of religion. The thesis of this dissertation is simple: McLaren is, in fact, a rationalist and empiricist, who utilizes irony, humor, generalization, and ridicule to disturb those expressions of faith common to mainstream, Western …
