Measures Clinicians In The Urgent And Emergent Settings Can Use To Increase Psychosocial Support And Patient Satisfaction After Miscarriage: An Integrative Review, Ashley Luanne Kay Brown
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
In the United States, about one in four women will experience miscarriage and pregnancy loss sometime in their life. Miscarriage is a common and distressing event with significant physical and emotional consequences for women. Prompt and appropriate psychosocial support during the acute phase of miscarriage is essential for the well-being of patients and can positively impact their long-term recovery. However, urgent and emergent care settings often lack standardized protocols and guidelines for addressing the psychosocial needs of women who experience a miscarriage. The purpose of this integrative review is to provide clinicians in urgent and emergency settings with the tools …

How Geriatric Courses Affect Bachelor Of Science In Nursing Students’ Attitudes And Intentions To Work With Older Adults: A Mixed Methods Study, Nina C. Hoskins
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The purpose of this explanatory sequential mixed methods study was to determine if and how the completion of a didactic geriatric course influenced nursing students’ attitudes toward older people, and nursing students’ intentions to work with older adults among bachelor’s degree nursing programs in the Midwest region of the United States of America. An explanatory sequential design allowed the researcher to utilize qualitative data to explain the quantitative results, especially surprising or contradictory findings. To collect data from a convenience sample of 17 nursing students, the researcher used two psychometrically validated self-report instruments (Kogan's Attitudes towards Older People Scale and …
An Apples-To-Apples Comparative Study: Differences In Residual Pesticide Concentrations On Fuji Apples, How These Pesticides Are Associated With Chronic Disease, And Implications For Consumer Awareness, Mary Carolyn Thies
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Fresh produce items lack specific pesticide labeling, leaving consumers unaware of the pesticide residue content that remains on both conventional and organic produce. Transparency in labeling fruits and vegetables could supplement consumer knowledge about the health dangers of dietary pesticide ingestion. The current study examined Fuji apple samples collected by farming operations in the United States in 2016. This study compared three types of pesticides: Diphenylamine, Fludioxonil, and Thiabendazole, to understand if there was a difference in the level of residue left behind, depending on the type of pesticide used. The residue concentration levels were compared by analyzing data captured …

Multicultural Worship Studies Of Military Chapels In South Korea, Abbey Nicole Bradley
Multicultural Worship Studies Of Military Chapels In South Korea, Abbey Nicole Bradley
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Despite a large body of literature on Korean/American worship, there is little to no research that addresses multicultural worship of the United States Army Garrison (USAG) in the Republic of Korea (ROK) at the Protestant military chapels. In addition, there is also a lack of research regarding worship ministry at USAG installations in general, aside from general multicultural worship models. Developing a biblical and multicultural worship model for the Protestant USAG chapels in the Republic of Korea is essential because of the diverse ethnicities in the U.S. military and the diverse backgrounds, denominations, and cultures within the military chapel communities. …

Pastoral Leadership As A Perceived Factor Of Changing Church Membership In South Carolina: A Phenomenological Study, Bobby L. Dukes
Pastoral Leadership As A Perceived Factor Of Changing Church Membership In South Carolina: A Phenomenological Study, Bobby L. Dukes
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The role of a pastor comprises many duties and responsibilities within the church; some have led to chaos. Clinton et al. (2005), states many churches are mired in a significant leadership crisis (p. 10). Pastors are called to lead people in spiritual growth, with the end goal of parishioners living a mature spiritual life for the sake of Christ, not the contrary. The enormity of pastoral leadership has a lasting effect. Kristin Tabb (2017) claims that relatively minor church hurts leave people with a burned-out feeling during service, while the more serious wounds leave parishioners soul-scarred and physically sick at …

Counseling By Default: A Study Of Pastoral Burnout Among Liberian Pastors, Helen Gibson-Newman
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Many Liberians turn to their pastors for help before considering going to a professional counselor. Pastoral counseling in Africa, especially in Liberia, is framed within African life and thought based on appropriate backgrounds that are evident in cultural assumptions and practices. Hence, pastoral counseling in Liberia assumes a cultural background central to the holistic Christian life that connects all dimensions of one’s social and spiritual life. Thus, the Liberian view of pastoral counseling is distinctly African, with a unique blend of noticeable Liberian values, traditions, and cultural practices based on a combination of its American and indigenous African heritage. Evaluating The Influence Of Reciprocity Of Meeting Partner's Temperament Needs In Terms Of Marital Intimacy, Jimmie Scott Inman
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
This narrative qualitative research project evaluated the influence of meeting a partner's needs regarding marital intimacy. This study investigated the archival data of couples who received temperament-focused marriage therapy. The essential principles taught throughout treatment (relational reciprocity, temperament needs met, the character of Christ) influence marital intimacy. A large body of work examined supports that needs-met (individual and relational) is essential for one's overall health and well-being. Three theories lay the theoretical foundation for this study: (1) Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs theory states that individuals have varying needs and that well-being hinges on their needs being met. (2) Schutz's Fundamental …
Evaluating The Need For Return-To-Learn Concussion Protocols In High School Student-Athletes: An Integrative Review, William David Midgette
Evaluating The Need For Return-To-Learn Concussion Protocols In High School Student-Athletes: An Integrative Review, William David Midgette
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Over a million high school students are estimated to sustain at least one sports-related concussion annually. Unfortunately, over a third of these student-athletes suffer from post-concussion syndrome, which leads to the question of whether student-athletes are allowed proper time to heal after a concussion or if more can be done to optimize concussion recovery. Proper and optimal recovery post-concussion encompasses both physical and cognitive rest. While concussion management has traditionally focused on the physical aspects of recovery, emphasis has shifted to the cognitive impacts of concussions. There is literature to support that cognitive rest is vitally important, if not equally …
