Vital Environs: Ecologies of Modernism and the Nature Tradition is an investigation of late nineteenth and early twentieth century British literature that explores the space between the individual and the external world. The project begins by exploring the “mind-body problem,” which is a topic in philosophy that recognizes the difficulty in understanding how the mind emerges from physical matter. This narrative inquiry examined how higher education residence life and housing professionals navigated career transitions into business leadership roles following the COVID-19 pandemic. Using human capital theory as a framework, the study explored the transferable skills cultivated in residence life positions and how these skills supported adaptation across industries. Participants’ narratives illuminated motivations for transition, including job market volatility, compensation concerns, and work-life balance, while also highlighting challenges encountered in reskilling and navigating identity shifts outside of higher education. Post-translational modifications are a critical tool bacteria employ to survive the challenges of microbial life. Acetylation continues to gain more recognition as a modification of unique importance because the sources of acetylation – acetyl-phosphate and acetyl-coenzyme-A – are critical metabolites associated with central carbon metabolism, acetate overflow metabolism and acetate assimilation. This suggests that acetylation, indelibly coupled to metabolic flux, integrates metabolic sensing with any cellular process or pathway where an acetylation alters the function of a protein. Purpose: The purpose of this phenomenological study was to determine how the key emotional intelligence (EI) dimensions of self-awareness, self-regulation, social awareness, and relationship management impact the leadership effectiveness of exemplary elementary school principals in terms of decision making, interpersonal relationships, and overall school climate.Methodology: Thirteen elementary school principals from Stanislaus County, Northern California, with at least 3 years of experience participated in semi-structured interviews. Data were transcribed and analyzed using Moustakas’s (1994) transcendental phenomenological approach, facilitated by NVivo 15 software. Trustworthiness was ensured through member checking, peer debriefing, and interrater reliability (80%).

This study used the full range leadership model (FRLM) and lead-member exchange theory to examine leadership’s impact on federal employee morale, trust, engagement, and performance. A descriptive qualitative study design involved semistructured interviews with 16 nonsupervisory transportation security officers (TSO) at nine Northern and Southern California airports. Participants had a minimum of 2 years federal employment and 1 year union representative experience. Audio recorded interviews were transcribed verbatim and thematically analyzed using NVivo software. Organizational documents were also used to triangulate interview data. This thesis studies the effect of the solar cycle and interplanetary shocks on turbulent fluctuations at 1 AU. We examine the solar cycle dependence of turbulence cascade rates corresponding to the total turbulence energy using the methodology developed by Adhikari et al. that utilizes a Kolmogorov phenomenology. Turbulence cascade rates are derived using 25 years (1995–2020) of Wind spacecraft plasma and magnetic-field observations. We find that the total turbulence energy cascade rate changes with the solar cycle, such that the cascade rate is largest during solar maximum and smallest during solar minimum. This qualitative study examined how the COVID-19 pandemic shaped the educational experiences, goals, and aspirations of First-Generation Latinx students from California’s Central Coast attending selected CSU campuses and identified the critical non-academic factors influencing their post-pandemic college navigation. Guided by two research questions, the study explored (1) the role of the pandemic in shaping students’ experiences and aspirations, and (2) the economic, familial, and academic factors affecting their preparation for and persistence in higher education.
