Lep Printed High Performance Flexible Packaging For Lamination Using Adhesive Mixed With Cross Linker, Hp Inc
Defensive Publications Series
High end lamination is a consecutive growing segment in flexible packaging (FP) market. These high value
packages are very much desirable by our customers ‐ the flexible packaging converters, and the brand owners
which want to stand out with their digitally printed colorful flexible packaging instead of the labeled metalized
cans. This growth increases using the ser. 4 printing digital press machine.
High performance FP applications requires to resist various challenges such as high heat sealing, water and
chemical resistance as well as challenge to create retortable products with Liquid Electro Printing (LEP)
technology. Retortable products are required to resist …
Drying System Temperature Control For A Large Format Textile Printer, Hp Inc
Drying System Temperature Control For A Large Format Textile Printer, Hp Inc
Defensive Publications Series
In the digital large format textile business, the drying system is one of the most important subsystems in
the printer. The objectives of this system are dry the media enough so that there is no transfer between
the rolled media and the following one, and to provide a hot air (airflow and temperature) in the print
zone to reduce bleed and coalescence. And one of the most critical parameters in the dryers is the control
of the temperature uniformity along the scan axis in the print zone. A fine control of the temperature
uniformity increases the media versatility by enabling …

Deterministic Product Search Based On Machine-Readable Link Activity, Hp Inc
Defensive Publications Series
In the context of retail shopping experiences, it has historically been challenging for a consumer
to verify the availability of a specific product in a “brick and mortar” retail store. The disclosure
proposes a system where each item in an offline shop is marked with some type of marking
technology and scanning of these marked items will store the item’s metadata (Item location, Item
name) in a searchable database. This will enable other consumers searching for the same item to
get information about its availability in a particular area.

Protect, Control And Track Printing Of Copyright Designs, Hp Inc
Defensive Publications Series
A plethora of copyright images and designs published today are subjected to unscrupulous usage and
piracy.
For instance, professional photographers or a photo houses, fashion designers, etc publish images to be
printed on posters, calendars, cards or on large hoardings or on fabric. There could be digitally
reproduced artwork or 3D designs from jewelry, art pieces, to mechanical parts of various equipment.
In most of these cases, the professionals need to advertise their designs but at the same time prevent
their illegal use.
When copyright images are legally purchased, there is no system to track or control the number of …

Requisition Time To Close Predictor Based On Historical Data Using Svm, Hp Inc
Defensive Publications Series
One of the key activities in any Human Resources organization is recruiting the best professionals for the teams
they support.
One of the issues faced is the apparent unpredictability of the timings during the recruitment process, in other
words the number of days it will take to have a new professional working after the moment the vacancy is
generated. This leads to difficulties in accurately planning the budgets, workforce and time distribution, and
resources allocation.
To give more clarity on this process and allow a better business planning, we have developed an algorithm that
based on a set of features …

Using Time Series Variations In Streaming Content As A Stream Status Identifier, Simon Smith
Using Time Series Variations In Streaming Content As A Stream Status Identifier, Simon Smith
Defensive Publications Series
Streaming content can be distributed over a network from sources, e.g., auditoriums, conference rooms, etc., to destinations, e.g., offices, other conference rooms, etc. There is a need to ensure that such a network, e.g., a corporate network, transport a content stream originating from a certain source provides it to the intended destination and only that destination. This verification needs to be performed without accessing the content of the stream itself. This disclosure describes techniques that form a signature of a content stream based on variations in its time series, e.g., by measuring bandwidth values of a certain number of frames. …

Dynamic Selection Of Assistive Features Based On Utility Scores, Victor Cărbune, Sandro Feuz
Defensive Publications Series
Assistive features are generally enabled for all features for which an assistance interface is available or implemented. While the number of assistance-capable features continues to grow, meaningful quantification of their utility to the user is not taken into account when deciding which of the features ought to be prioritized. This disclosure describes techniques to prioritize and select from available assistive features, and enable the selected features for a user in a given context. With permission from the user, a centralized model is provided with the set of available assistance-capable features. The model is applied to prioritize and select the assistive …

Distributed Statistical Application Profiler, Benjamin Smith
Distributed Statistical Application Profiler, Benjamin Smith
Defensive Publications Series
A method for profiling an application using partial profile data from multiple instances of the application deployed for various users is presented herein. The method enables reconstruction of a complete and accurate application profile by distributing instrumentation across many instances of an application to sample only parts of an application by each instance. The method allows for highly detailed and accurate profiling of real world use cases for an application without affecting performance of the application because the sampling is distributed across the user base. The method may allow for tuning of the detail of sampling in order to collect …

Code Generation From Language-Compliant Templates, Christopher J. Phoenix
Defensive Publications Series
Programs that auto-generate code generally produce output from a combination of fixed text and variable text. The variable text comes from an input file; the fixed text is typically scattered throughout the program code. This disclosure presents techniques that extract the fixed text from a schema or template file written in the target language, thereby making is easier to auto-generate accurate code.

Transferable Deep Links, Victor Cărbune, Thomas Deselaers
Defensive Publications Series
The disclosure describes techniques to automatically generate shareable deep links from applications and/or web pages. A system level application programming interface (API) provides automatically transferable deep links from application or web pages. Per the techniques, applications or web pages store a given state along with an associated hash. When a link to a shopping cart is shared by a user, the recipient sees the same content as the sender which is enabled by the use of the associated hash. While the applications or web pages control shareable status, the sharable deep link techniques are provided via a browser or operating …

Client-Side Masking For Voice Queries, Aleksandar Kracun, Matthew Sharifi
Client-Side Masking For Voice Queries, Aleksandar Kracun, Matthew Sharifi
Defensive Publications Series
Many voice-based assistive technologies transmit the voice input received from users to a server for processing. The transmitted audio includes the speaker’s voice which can identify the person. Users of such technologies therefore face a tradeoff between convenient voice interfaces with reduced privacy or less convenient non-voice input with higher privacy. Techniques described herein mask a user’s voice by locally processing the voice input received by a device. The masked voice cannot personally identify the user while still enabling server-side processing that allows recognition of spoken phrases. Application of the proposed techniques provides the user with greater privacy without diminishing …

Model-Based Network Congestion Control, Neal Cardwell, Van Jacobson, Yuchung Cheng, Soheil Hassas Yeganeh, Victor Vasiliev, Ian Swett, Priyaranjan Jha, Yousuk Seung, David Wetherall
Defensive Publications Series
Computer network congestion control algorithms control the sending rate for flows of data from sender network nodes to receiver network nodes. These algorithms attempt to utilize network bandwidth capacity efficiently, while keeping network data loss rates low, and allocating network capacity between different flows sharing the network in an approximately fair manner, or at least avoiding starvation of some flows. In addition, some congestion control algorithms attempt to keep network queues short, to reduce queuing delays and further reduce loss rates.
This disclosure describes model-based congestion control, a technique that explicitly models the network conditions along the path(s) between senders …

Restaurant Ratings Based On Tipping Patterns, Sanjay D'Abreu Noronha
Defensive Publications Series
The disclosure describes techniques to ascertain the quality of a restaurant based on the tipping behavior of patrons. Electronic payment data for payments made using a user device is obtained with user permission. The data is analyzed to determine user satisfaction by comparison with prior tipping behavior. For example, if the user tipped more than usual, it is determined that customer satisfaction was high for that restaurant. When users permit, data for multiple user payments is aggregated to determine restaurant ratings.
