This publication describes techniques directed to an electronic device equipped with audio speakers and a volume-control manager application. Instructions included in the volume-control manager application, when executed by a processor of the electronic device, cause the electronic device to perform multiple operations that manage output volume of the audio speakers. Such operations include sensing, through one or more sensors of the electronic device, conditions surrounding the electronic device to determine a context and provide output-volume control options to a user in accordance with the determined context.

Techniques are provided herein for staged migration to Ethernet Virtual Private Network (EVPN) Flexible Cross-Connect (FXC) / Virtual Private Wire Service (VPWS) on a site-by-site basis and per Peer-to-Peer (P2P) instance. This will enable staged migration without requiring any changes to existing legacy VPWS. These techniques should thereby allow for the coexistence of Provider Edge (PE) devices running EVPN FXC/VPWS and legacy VPWS. Furthermore, migration may occur from legacy/old device to new device P2P services.

A mobile device such as a smartphone may analyze acceleration data to determine when the mobile device, and therefore the user of the mobile device, has been in a vehicle accident. Detecting whether a vehicle accident has occurred may account for an intensity of acceleration forces, a duration of acceleration forces, and concurrent non-force activities detected by the mobile device (e.g., loud audio or screen breakage). In aspects, roaming activity data is collected and compiled into a database of roaming activity data of Home PLMNs and associated Roaming PLMNs. The techniques presented herein propose to overlay a virtual channel-hopping schedule on a mains-powered devices’ unicast (Ucast) and broadcast (Bcast) schedule that allows for a relatively large synchronization error for devices that cannot afford to resynchronize often. The virtual channel-hopping schedule does not occupy actual slot time of the mains-powered devices, does not reduce the overall robustness of a Low power and Lossy Network (LLN) to interference and channel agility, but may reduce the re-synchronization time between mains-powered devices and battery-powered edge devices. An existing metric algorithm in wireless mesh networks (WMNs) adopts samples generated by itself. In other words, the existing algorithm sends some probe frames and then counts the returned acknowledgments (acks).
