Devices such as virtual reality headsets include a battery to power the device during use. This disclosure describes a battery enclosure (mount) for a VR headset that includes design elements that improve safety. A plastic enclosure is utilized to mount the battery. In such situations, a user can benefit from automating sequences of actions in the form of text-based commands or scripts. This publication describes techniques and processes for using image-processing settings (e.g., Auto-Exposure (AE), Auto-Focus (AF), and/or Auto-White Balance (AWB)) to determine an optimal operating point for object detection by an object detector on an imaging device. An operating point is provided to the object detector by a manufacturer to enable the object detector to execute object detection. Through object detection, the object detector determines if an object is identified in the scene based on a confidence score. In one scheme for defrauding online ad networks, a fraudster, typically outside the United States, operates large banks of mobile devices and perpetrates click fraud. To maximize payout, the fraudster devices pretend to be in the US or other high-income country, where the payouts are substantially higher. Researchers have demonstrated that a laser beam or a high-frequency electromagnetic (EM) wave can be used to remotely and inaudibly gain control of a voice-based virtual assistant. This disclosure describes techniques to protect a voice assistant device from such laser or EM attacks. The techniques leverage the differing sensitivities of the multiple microphones of a virtual assistant device to a laser or to EM waves to flag a received voice command as authentic or suspicious. The techniques also determine a user’s proximity to the virtual assistant device to determine if a received command is authentic or suspicious.

Users can provide input to a computing device via various modalities such as keyboard, mouse, via voice, etc. When interacting with a virtual assistant, users currently need to switch manually between keyboard and voice input. Such cumbersome interaction can lead to reduced usage of a virtual assistant or other software. This disclosure describes a user interface in which a virtual keyboard and voice input mode are both activated simultaneously. When the user starts providing input via one modality, the other modality is automatically turned off. The user interface enables fast interaction with a virtual assistant or other software.

Current security and access control technologies permit controlling authorization and authentication based on network addresses. However, such technologies do not address problems resulting from administrator error and oversight. Inadvertent mistakes and/or oversight can result in cloud resources being erroneously exposed to external access by malicious actors. This disclosure describes the application of a trained machine learning model to determine a credibility score for the source IP address of a request received at a cloud resource. The outcome of the credibility evaluation is used to enact access controls for the corresponding source IP address.

Modern Massively Scalable Datacenters (MSDCs) delivering high availability software such as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Infrastructure-as-a-Service, etc. have stringent metrics to which to adhere. Link availability is one such crucial factor. Techniques presented herein may facilitate decreasing link bring-up time by maintaining a cache for link training (LT) transmit (TX) Finite Impulse Response (FIR) settings. Thus, these techniques may provide for faster link bring-up, faster convergence, and faster fabric module bring-up in an End of Rack (EoR) chassis. Using techniques presented herein, faster link bring-up may become the norm rather than the exception.
