Current smart traffic lights (STLs) can provide access to a traffic signal, which a vehicle, such as an emergency vehicle, can manipulate through a Cooperative Awareness Message (CAM) object. However, researchers have demonstrated that STLs can be easily hacked using an abusive CAM object. To address such a weakness, techniques are presented herein that secure a STL with auxiliary data that is attached to a CAM object, which can be used by a vehicle on-board unit (OBU) and smartphones. Aspects of the presented techniques reduce the encryption and decryption overhead that is incurred when attaching a security header as part …

Algorithm To Estimate Suspended Metal Particles In Recirculation Agent Delivery System, Hp Inc
Algorithm To Estimate Suspended Metal Particles In Recirculation Agent Delivery System, Hp Inc
Defensive Publications Series
It is common for printers that use challenging agent or inks to include a Recirculation System through the
printhead. This allows for the agent/ink to mix both in the Agent Delivery System and the Printhead.
This method is especially useful in 3D-metals printers, where printhead reliability is crucial and refreshing
the printhead with new agent will increase the printhead life and achieve a better isothermal control in the
firing chamber.
One risk of recirculating through the printhead is that particles in suspension in the air of the print zone
might be ingested through the nozzles and end up in the …

Purge Process To Reduce Ink Spills, Hp Inc
Defensive Publications Series
In some printers, during the start‐up, the Ink Delivery System is purged by using a gas purger
(instead of a printhead) fluidically connected to the fluid interconnect on the carriage, which
allows to evacuate air or any other gas that may be present in the Ink Delivery System.
The gas in the Ink Delivery System is purged through the gas purger in response to a fluid being
pumped into the Ink Delivery System. The ink pressure gradually increases while the ink moves
upstream to the fluid interconnect. Once the ink reaches the purgers and the foam collapses,
the ink pressure …
Custom Lut-Property Preserving Hans Calibration, Hp Inc
Custom Lut-Property Preserving Hans Calibration, Hp Inc
Defensive Publications Series
This disclosure relates to the field of color calibrations in a print system. Traditional
calibration obtains change factors for each of the inks of a given system and applies these
factors - per ink - to the color resources. The changes are proportionally spread for ink
combinations (in a traditional pipeline) or NPacs (in a HANS pipeline). However, there are
cases where resources may use certain ink-drop combinations (NPs) for purposes and
used by later stages of the pipeline, where calibration must apply change factors such
that these custom NP properties are maintained after calibration. One example here is
the …
Emissivity Robustness Through Glass Temperature Control, Hp Inc
Emissivity Robustness Through Glass Temperature Control, Hp Inc
Defensive Publications Series
Temperature control is fundamental for MultiJet Fusion technology and
MetalJet technology. When monitoring temperature using a thermographic
camera (or any other noncontact thermometry technology) it is important to set
the camera emissivity setting to match the optical emissivity of the build material,
otherwise the camera readings will not be correct. In some materials emissivity
may vary from lot to lot and with recycling, it is therefore advantageous to make
the printmode robust to powder emissivity variations. This can be achieved by
controlling the temperature of the top lamps glass via pyrometer measurements.

System For Ranking Document Images Based On Human Perception, Hp Inc
Defensive Publications Series
We propose a system of opinion polling that aims to acquire information about human
perception of subjective visual attributes (e.g., image quality). We developed an application that
collects opinions of evaluators about the visual performance of different deep learning methods
for document image enhancement and generates a final scored rank that can indicate which
method and images are the best. The opinion polling system can then be used, for example, to
decide which method is more suitable to be launched as a product.
