A confidential virtual machine (CVM) uses a hardware-rooted key to encrypt customer data written to memory. For enhanced security, the CVM makes the plaintext-to-ciphertext map depend on the physical address (PA) of the memory location. Peripheral devices operate not in PA space but in input-output address space. Currently, peripherals can only perform memory accesses without encryption, or need to use a two-pass, high-latency, power-intensive encryption procedure involving a transport key distinct from the hardware-rooted key.

Today, content providers are looking to offer personalized services to their subscribers. However, they are restricted by a lack of control over the policies that may be enforced for such subscribers within a mobile operator's network. To address such challenges, techniques are presented herein that introduce an in-band communication mechanism between a content provider and an operator's network. Such a facility enables the content provider and the operator to tailor their services while reaping benefits in terms of reduced capital expenditures (CapEx) and operating expenses (OpEx), avoiding multiple signaling hops, and simplifying subscriber policy management.

An under-display ambient light sensor (ALS) can be employed in devices that have small bezels which cannot accommodate an ALS. However, the lux detected by an under-display ALS can deviate from the true lux levels of the environment because of the impact of the light from the display pixels. This disclosure describes the use of a calibrated machine learning model to obtain the true lux measurement for ambient light by adjusting the value measured by the ALS to compensate for the influence of display light.
