Lateral Collision Detection For Mobile Robots, Hp Inc Jan 2023

Lateral Collision Detection For Mobile Robots, Hp Inc

Defensive Publications Series

A system for accurately detecting lateral collisions with an obstacle is introduced. When a mobile robot rotates, it might collide with a wall or pillar it had not seen before. With this system, the collision can be detected, and a recovery manoeuvre performed, minimizing physical damage to the robot and downtime, without user intervention. Otherwise, the robot would get stuck trying to move to the next target, requiring manual intervention. Finally, when a collision is detected, the obstacle position and orientation can be estimated, and this information can be saved for future use (such as mapping).

Data Structure For Supporting In-Memory Storage With Multiple Keys, Theodore Obbard, Jonathan Katzman Jan 2023

Data Structure For Supporting In-Memory Storage With Multiple Keys, Theodore Obbard, Jonathan Katzman

Defensive Publications Series

The Object data structure in JavaScript is simply a set of key-value pairs in which the values for each key must be one of the primitive data types. Developers can add multiple value fields for a given key within a JavaScript Object by using an array as the value. Developers can also use an array as a key and retrieve any value via the array. However, developers must query Objects with whole matching key values which prevents execution of queries with partial or multi-key matching. Overcoming these limitations by storing data in a client-side database on the local disk of …
