Moving/Rotating Antennas For Wireless Access Points, Alessandro Erta, Pascal Thubert, Domenico Ficara, Carmine Benedetto, Luca Bisti, Arun G Khanna, Sudhir K Jain, Kasi R Nalamalapu, Stefano Ferrari, Salvatore Valenza, Vincent Cuissard, Loris Gazzarrini

Defensive Publications Series

Conventionally, the position and orientation of antennas for wireless access points depends on the position in which a wireless access point is oriented during installation and typically does not change unless the positioning of the wireless access point is changed. Thus, wireless antenna position/orientation typically remains static once an access point is installed. Techniques proposed herein introduce a sensor fusion approach for controlling the direction/orientation of wireless access point antennas in order to improve wireless communications for wireless networks.

Low Latency And Energy-Efficient Hotword Detection Based On Mouth Movement, D Shin

Defensive Publications Series

Devices that provide virtual assistants that respond to spoken queries monitor the user’s speech to detect a hotword to trigger the virtual assistant application. However, hotword detection requires some components of the device to be always on which make such devices power hungry. Always-on microphones are a problem especially for small devices such as hearables that have a small battery. This disclosure describes techniques that gate hotword detection with a lightweight neural network that estimates mouth motion signatures using signals from a low-power, always-on inertial measurement unit (IMU). Because the IMU has lower bandwidth than microphones, signals generated by the …

On Device Security Agent To Mitigate Inference Attacks On Machine Learning Models, Hari Bhaskar S

Defensive Publications Series

The advent of on-device machine learning allows developers to deploy models on end-user devices. A trained machine learning model can be a representation of the dataset used to train the model and may carry knowledge of decision making based on training. Malicious actors can perform inference attacks to exploit open-ended, unprotected on-device machine learning models, e.g., by taking the device offline to block information from being sent to the cloud and sending several inference requests to extract the patterns of data and/or training of the machine-learning model. This disclosure describes an on-device security agent that monitors the patterns of inference …

High Power Balanced Amplifier Combiner, Qorvo Us, Inc.

Defensive Publications Series

This paper proposes changing the Lange from a 50ohm impedance to a 25 ohm impedance. Changing the Lange from 50 ohms to 25ohms and adding a 25ohm to 50 ohm Trifilar transformer on the output will allow for much higher power balanced amplifiers on thin substates like 50um GaN. The topology could also be used on other substrate materials like Alumina to make the trace widths larger so that you can work at higher frequency and power levels.
