Elimination Of Seal In Compressor And Use Of Leakage Flow For Bearing Cooling
Elimination Of Seal In Compressor And Use Of Leakage Flow For Bearing Cooling
Defensive Publications Series
Labyrinth seals play a crucial role in shaft sealing applications in protecting bearings and preventing contamination. However, they tend to have high leakage values which negatively impact compressor efficiency. This proposed solution eliminates the seal and makes the clearance between thrust collar and seal plate big enough to have a controlled leakage. The leakage is used to cool the bearings.

Low Latency Network Protocol For Time Sensitive Applications, Mohsin Alam
Defensive Publications Series
Real-time applications such as online gaming and video conferencing require low latency. High network latency, especially for geographically distributed users, negatively impacts these applications, as traditional network protocols prioritize throughput over latency. This document describes a network protocol to reduce latency and enable faster communication, especially for time-sensitive applications. The protocol prioritizes data packets, using custom headers to indicate priority. Additional aspects such as linking related data, sequencing, time-stamping, and lightweight session tokens can also be incorporated in the header. The protocol leverages adaptive mechanisms for congestion control, packet loss compensation, and machine learning for prediction and pre-emption of network …

High-Performance Hardware Hash Table, Na
High-Performance Hardware Hash Table, Na
Defensive Publications Series
Hash tables, which are sets of (key, value) pairs, are versatile data structures that find use wherever a data value has to be retrieved (looked up) against a key. While high-speed lookup functions can be implemented using content-addressable memories (CAM), CAMs are typically expensive in terms of chip area and power consumption. This disclosure describes a scalable, high-performance hardware hash-table design that occupies little area and consumes low power. High speed is achieved by merging the results of multiple hash tables with distinct hashing functions that operate parallelly. The described high-performance hash table is capable of parallel update and lookup …

Input-Output Architecture For A Partitioned Cloud Server, Na
Defensive Publications Series
This disclosure describes techniques to virtualize input-output (I/O) on partitioned cloud servers in a manner that decouples the partitioning of compute resources (e.g., CPU cores, memory, etc.) from I/O, such that multiple compute partitions can share a single, securely multiplexed I/O infrastructure. Per the techniques, some read/write operations need not go directly to the corresponding hardware but may be handled by an intermediary layer that virtualizes the shared hardware based on the request and the partition from which the request originates. The intermediary layer supplies a response to the request, including the result of the read operation. The described techniques …

Uniform And Quick Heat Transfer Between High Power Section To Low Power Section Of A Hardened Outdoor Conduction Cooled Chassis, Anonymous
Defensive Publications Series
This disclosure relates to an improved conduction‐cooled enclosure for outdoor networking and electronics systems. Traditional designs often place high‐power components (e.g., switch ASICs, processors) in a “base” section and power supply units in a “lid” section, leading to significant thermal imbalances and potential chassis deformation over time. To resolve these issues, a novel approach adds a Graphite‐over‐Foam (GoF) thermal gasket along the entire mating interface between the base and lid. This gasket works alongside the existing rubber gasket for hermetic sealing and the electrically conductive gasket for EMI/EMC compliance. By providing a dedicated high‐conductivity path (on the order of 3 …
Front Panel Led Indication Using Flexible Optical Fibers Harness And Header Assembly In High Port Density Network Systems, Anonymous
Defensive Publications Series
The present disclosure introduces a novel front-panel light emitting diode (LED) indication system that leverages an optical fiber–based approach to overcome the spatial and thermal limitations encountered in high-density telecom and networking equipment. Instead of relying on bulky light pipes mounted directly behind each transceiver port, the solution relocates the LED array to a more convenient area on the printed circuit board (PCB). Each LED is housed within a specially designed plastic socket, preventing color mixing and ensuring distinct, high-contrast indications for every port. Flexible optical fibers then guide each LED’s light from the PCB to a thin plastic strip …

Composite Tube Supported On O-Rings For Sealing Of Rotor Cavity Against Coolant Ingress
Defensive Publications Series
Direct slot cooling is one of the important methods used in electric motors to enhance efficiency and performance. Although direct cooling significantly improves power density, it requires sealing of rotor space from the stator space to avoid oil getting into rotor space. The solution proposes a composite sealing tube placed into the air gap between stator and rotor and sealed by the O-rings on the outer diameter. The solution separates stator and rotor cavity to prevent ingress of coolant into the rotor cavity.
