Online Cascaded Deduplicating, Yotam Intrator, Regev Cohen
Online Cascaded Deduplicating, Yotam Intrator, Regev Cohen
Defensive Publications Series
Real-time deduplication of search results is beneficial in the field of information retrieval. This process can deliver unique and relevant outputs to users with minimal delay. For instance, if a news aggregator is processing hundreds of incoming articles each hour, it can use an online deduplication process to sift out redundant content.
Present methods often rely on offline deduplication, which may not scale well for massive, frequently updating data streams. Repeated entries can diminish user satisfaction by cluttering query outputs with similar or identical items. Large-scale, real-time deduplication can help address this by filtering exact duplicates and improving clarity, although …

Intuitive Gesture-Based Intent Specification For Search Workflows, Gulmohar Khan, Ramprasad Sedouram
Defensive Publications Series
Many search applications support multimodal search where results in different modalities are delivered. In some contexts, search results may also include AI-generated content that is responsive to a user query. However, current user interfaces for search do not enable a user to easily specify their intent, e.g., web results vs. generative results; text-only, image-only, video-only results, etc. This disclosure describes an intuitive, gesture-based user interface that enables users to specify their search intent when initiating a search. The gesture may be performed with reference to a user interface element such as a call-to-action button, a virtual keyboard, a dropdown menu, …

Transforming Physical Objects Into Interactive Interfaces Using Hand Tracking, Ruofei Du, David Kim
Defensive Publications Series
AR/VR interactions rely on dedicated controllers or gestures, which can be cumbersome and limit user interaction with digital interfaces. This disclosure describes techniques for transforming everyday objects into interactive interfaces using augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), or extended reality (XR) devices that perform real-time hand-object tracking. The techniques segment video frames into hands and objects using a deep learning based segmentation model. Objects are tracked in six degrees of freedom (6DoF) using a motion estimation network and machine-learning-based pose estimation. Simultaneously, 3D hand tracking identifies touch interactions, gestures, or voice commands. Cloud-hosted operating system (OS) interfaces are rendered onto …

Defensive Publications Series
In this work, we explore the development of a software application using Large Language Models (LLMs) to retrieve data from public GitHub repositories. The reliance on external sources can increase susceptibility to failures due to various factors, which are discussed in the following sections of this paper. Decoding strategies and prompt engineering are addressed to improve the coherence of LLM responses. We conducted experiments demonstrating how prompt techniques and inference parameters, such as temperature and top-p, affect model accuracy. The goal is to develop an application that extracts data from GitHub and generates outputs in natural language, enhancing user comprehension. …

Optimizing Coupon Distribution By On-Demand Allocation Of Voucher Codes, Ankit Aggarwal, Arpit Kumar Jaiswal, Woohyun Kim
Defensive Publications Series
Voucher codes attached to digital scratch coupons are a popular way for merchants to present offers to potential customers. Such coupons are distributed through digital payment apps, online shopping platforms, etc. after a successful payment by a user. A substantial fraction of coupons may not get interacted with by the user. Even when the coupon is activated, many users may not view or use the voucher code. This causes wasteful effort for marketers that run promotional campaigns linked to coupons. This disclosure describes techniques to assign and distribute voucher codes only after a user seeks the code after scratching a …

Certificate Authority As A Global Attestation Verifier Service, Nelly Porter, Rene Kolga
Defensive Publications Series
An attestation verification service (AVS) enables remote attestation of hardware-based trusted execution environments. However, today the confidential-computing industry lacks AVS that is independent, trusted, cross-technology, and cross-cloud. This hampers the adoption of and trust in confidential computing services. This disclosure describes techniques that leverage a certificate authority (CA) to provide independent and technology/cloud-agnostic attestation verification service (AVS). Per the techniques, the AVS provided by the CA collects certificates from vendors or entities in specific trust chains, e.g., hardware vendors, cloud service providers, etc. The AVS verifies certificates (signatures) from each entity and signs the overall endorsement report with its own …
Multibit Synchronizer For Ultra-Low-Power Multi-Clock System-On-Chip, Kanishka De, Sheng Lin
Multibit Synchronizer For Ultra-Low-Power Multi-Clock System-On-Chip, Kanishka De, Sheng Lin
Defensive Publications Series
Modern low-power system-on-chip (SoC) designs reduce power consumption by using multiple asynchronous clocks that can run different chip blocks at their optimal DVFS (dynamic voltage frequency scaling) points. However, this causes significant increases in instances of data paths crossing asynchronous clock domains. At such crossover points, synchronizer is used in the design to address metastability issues. Typically, the synchronizer cells comprise two or three stages of flip-flops, but such synchronizer cells are implemented as single-bit standard cells. As a result, the design is restricted from achieving a higher multi-bit grouping ratio and a better performance-per-Watt. This disclosure describes a multibit …

Techniques To Facilitate Fast Link Protection Switch Convergence For Routed Passive Optical Networking (Pon) Networks, Manoj Kumar, G T Nadiyan Selvam
Defensive Publications Series
Proposed herein are techniques that enable the propagation of an event from a passive optical networking (PON) segment to an Ethernet segment through the use of a link level protocol (e.g., Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP)). During operation for a PON deployment, when a PON Media Access Control (MAC) layer component takes over a PON link as a new active link, an event can be sent to the far end provider edge (PE) of the Ethernet overlay circuit to enable a path switch from an earlier active path to the protect path. Thus, the proposed techniques may enable fast end-to-end …

Novel Test Point Algorithm For Register-Based Read Only Memory, Krunal Siddhapathak, Ankit Garg
Defensive Publications Series
This publication describes a test point algorithm that uses custom test points to detect faults at a given node in a register-based read-only memory (ROM). Test points to detect faults are inserted at higher combinational depth levels to reduce the overall number of test points used. A flop-based ROM implementation may include address‑decoding logic to obtain specific register content. A flop-based ROM implementation may include an OR tree structure to generate the final ROM output.
