Systems And Methods For Adjusting Lighting To Improve Image Quality, N/A, Joe Benassi
Systems And Methods For Adjusting Lighting To Improve Image Quality, N/A, Joe Benassi
Defensive Publications Series
Many cameras or other imaging systems can capture images (e.g., photographs) with poor lighting conditions that result in low-quality images. For instance, it may be too dark and/or backlit to use a smartphone that has a camera to take photos in an indoor environment. As an example, light reflected from colored furniture and/or walls can make people look less healthy and can destroy an experience of using the smartphone to take photos. Thus, poor lighting conditions often result in low-quality photographs.

Many devices can be networked to a central device such that a user can control various devices using the central device. Typically, a user can control a specific device from an application provided by the central device. For example, the application can show a list of devices, and the user can select the specific device and then start controlling it. Alternatively, each different device may require its own distinct application. However, it is time-consuming for a user to find a specific device from a long list of devices or to open and use each individual application to control each individual …

Many Internet of Things devices are networked to a central device such that a user can control various devices using the central device. Typically, the various devices are from different manufacturers. Each manufacturer may assign a theme setting to a device such that a control application provided by the central device for that device can display the assigned theme setting of that device. However, a user cannot change the assigned theme setting of that device, thereby ending up with clashing styles and personalities across multiple devices within their home. Thus, techniques for a user to customize theme settings for devices …
Smart Drink Bottle, Matthew Tait
Smart Drink Bottle, Matthew Tait
Defensive Publications Series
Drinking water is essential for health. The appropriate amount of drinking water per day varies depending on physical activity, age, health issues, and environmental conditions. For example, for those who work in a hot climate, it is better to drink up more water. However, people may drink water at the office, in a restaurant, during workout, or at any other suitable places. It is difficult to know how much water a person drinks per day and if the amount of drinking water is sufficient for health. Thus, a system for keeping track of the amount of drinking water is needed.

Augmented Search For Physical Documents, Hp Inc
Augmented Search For Physical Documents, Hp Inc
Defensive Publications Series
In recent years, we are used to searching words in electronic documents such as PDFs,
Powerpoints, Word Documents, and so on. Whenever we have a large document and we
need to find a specific word or sentence - with a few keyboard commands - we can easily
find it, and all occurrences are highlighted to make locating it easier. On the other hand,
when we think about physical documents (e.g. printed documents, magazines), there is
no such mechanism that allows us to search words or sentences on it. Our method helps
creating a search query on physical documents by allowing …

Additional Security For Stored Print Jobs, Hp Inc
Defensive Publications Series
Modern printers have a provision to receive print jobs from remote client devices over network and keep them as stored jobs.
At the time of sending a print job, user (at client device) has a choice to associate a PIN with the job and have it stored in
encrypted format on the printer. Even though the combination of the two seem good enough to secure user’s print data, but
this safety relies totally on the confidentiality of the PIN – once the PIN has been leaked, the data safety is compromised.
