Data from network devices is commonly made available without any regard to, or concern, for the ability to provably verify the classification level of the involved data. The owner of a network device frequently will wish to restrict data access, visibility, and processing as a policy action. To address these types of challenges, techniques presented herein support a multi-step approach to addressing the issue of how owners of network device-generated data may share such data with other parties (e.g., a vendor’s technical assistance center, partners, etc.) in a controlled way that respects data and other privacy controls and provides verification …

Virtual Leds For Real-Time Monitoring And Debugging In Electronic Hardware, N/A
Defensive Publications Series
Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are ubiquitous in electronic hardware, where they serve to indicate device state and/or provide debug information, e.g., during product development. If indicator LEDs are retained in production hardware, equipment owners incur substantial capital and operating costs. This disclosure describes the virtual LED (vLED), a technique that leverages connectivity through an on-board controller such as a baseboard management controller (BMC) to transmit real-time information equivalent to the state of the physical indicator-LED to a log file communicated through a browser or other tool. The vLED provides the equivalent functionalities as a physical LED while costing nearly nothing and …

Ensuring low latency in a passive optical network (PON) environment for a mobile fronthaul use case is critical and raises a number of challenges. To address those types of challenges, techniques are presented herein that support, among other things, the coordination between a PON scheduler and a Long-Term Evolution (LTE) or Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Fifth Generation (5G) scheduler where the expected traffic in an uplink direction is intimated in advance to the PON scheduler. Such advance knowledge of a bandwidth scheduling requirement in an upstream direction eliminates, for example, the serialization of scheduler latency. Aspects of the techniques …
