Many new applications/services/microservices are hosted in some form of a cloud network, such as a private, public, or hybrid cloud. This means the network connecting applications/services/microservices to clients is critical infrastructure that is needed to facilitate a good user-experience. However, some cloud network environments that utilize datacenter fabrics may have limited visibility with regard to observability and/or awareness of different network events (e.g., failures, service faults, potential performance optimizations, etc.). Provided herein are techniques through which Service-Level Agreement (SLA) decisions that may be made by third-party tools can be consumed in order to drive flow steering in a datacenter fabric …

Defined-Trust Limited Domains, Kathleen Nichols Feb 2023

Defined-Trust Limited Domains, Kathleen Nichols

Defensive Publications Series

Defined-trust Limited Domains are a type of Limited Domain [RFC8799] where the rules specifying the (networked) communication of application information are defined in a communications schema that governs the information communicated in a particular Limited Domain. The schema includes the required format of information and specifies identities and the attributes that are required to legally construct a particular format. Application-local trust management enforces the schema which allows members of the domain to be “definite in what they accept” [LANG] and hence secure the Domain without a physical perimeter. All communications must be signed by a verifiable member identity. The schema …

Automatic Ink Detection For Large Format And Wide Page Printers Off-Axis Printheads Using Pils Sensors, Hp Inc

Defensive Publications Series

Current disclosure will present a revolutionary implementation for large format printers’ off‐axis printheads (PHs). PHs are normally affected to different possible issues that should affect Image Quality (IQ). One of them is the lack of ink fired, also known as starvation. This issue happens when PHs ingest air along the life of usage and high flow rate is required, in that case, the off‐axis Ph is not able to refill enough and produces lack of ink in the substrate or even a temperature issue with consequently damage of the PH. The introduction of using the PILS sensor that could detect …

Handeheld Device For Aided Fine Cleaning Of Green Parts, Hp Inc Feb 2023

Handeheld Device For Aided Fine Cleaning Of Green Parts, Hp Inc

Defensive Publications Series

Metal binding 3D printing machines enable to produce green parts by selectively gluing metal powder particles inside a print bucket, typically using printheads that jet a binding solution to a thin layer of powder; formation of three-dimensional parts happens by stacking such layers one on top of each other. After printing, the binder solutions (from now on “binder”) must go through a curing process. The curing process provides the parts with a “good enough” mechanical strength to undergo several subsequent cleaning processes, prior to entering the sintering oven. In the sintering furnace, the metal particles diffuse and form a single …

On some other cases, the cutter is not engaged when it should …

High Precision Programmable Delay In Networking Switches, N/A Jan 2023

High Precision Programmable Delay In Networking Switches, N/A

Defensive Publications Series

Fairness in computer networks used in application domains such as financial markets, prediction markets, etc., can be achieved by ensuring that all participants receive the same multicast information at the same time. However, in practice, due to factors such as differing processing delays at network nodes, differing optical fiber lengths, etc., some participants may receive data sooner than others. This disclosure describes techniques to reduce timing variance and unfairness in multicast networks. Since multicasting works by replicating information to destination nodes, the replication engine at a node of a given network layer is programmed to delay retransmission of information received …
