Improving Network Throughput Of Connected Grid Router Wireless Personal Area Network For Master And Slave Case, Yajun Xia, Yinfang Wang, Lele Zhang, Li Zhao
Defensive Publications Series
Techniques are described herein to cause a Master and Slave Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN) to share the same 64-bit Extended Unique Identifier (EUI64) address. In response, the first hop dual-phy node transmits most of the upward data flow to the router via the Radio Frequency (RF) link, and the router transmits most downward data flow via the RF link. Because the RF link has much more bandwidth than the Power Line Communication (PLC) link, this mechanism takes full advantage of network resources and extends the network throughput.

Distributed And Collaborative Test Scheduling To Determine A Green Build, Keun Soo Yim
Defensive Publications Series
In the parlance of software testing and verification, a green build is a software build that passes tests on all reference devices. A green build is typically determined by a centralized test-scheduler. The centralized test-scheduler has a database of parameters, e.g., build-artifacts, build-branches, etc., corresponding to each device. The centralized scheduler uses the database to efficiently schedule tests. Centralized scheduling is computationally intensive, and maintenance of the database is a significant burden.
Per the techniques of this disclosure, devices in a pool collaboratively pick a new build to test. The first device to start within a given scheduling interval picks …

Client Request Scheduling To Reduce Server Load Spikes, Jay Gengelbach, Kirby Bohling
Defensive Publications Series
Popular mobile apps have hundreds of millions of users. Consequently, servers that support such apps can receive as many as hundreds of thousands of user requests every second. Certain applications submit requests from a large number of devices such that the requests arrive at the server at nearly the same time. This causes a sharp spike in the number of user requests to be processed by the server and congestion throughout the network stack that can result in errors and dropped user requests. This disclosure presents techniques that schedule incoming user requests such that the histogram of load-versus-time is relatively …

Programmable Test Pattern Generator And Controller, Sandeep Bhatia
Defensive Publications Series
Memories are typically tested using preset test patterns that exercise the memory core. In the case of embedded memories, e.g., where memory is integrated within an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC), conventional testing is not effective in uncovering defects in the memory-ASIC interface. Stress conditions, e.g., excessive bus activity, saturated interface bandwidth, power surges, noise, etc., that arise in operation are not reproduced adequately in the test phase. Memory defects that manifest under specific conditions, e.g., after many cycles of memory access, under certain data/address sequences, when neighboring memory cells hold particular values, etc., are often not uncovered.
