Relationship Between Maxillary Anterior Alveolar Arch Form And Tooth Root Axis In Class I Occlusion: A Cone Beam Computed Tomography Study, Suweera Petaibunlue

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Purpose: This study determined the relationships of the angulation between tooth root axis and alveolar bone axis to the anterior alveolar (AA) arch forms and the sagittal root position (SRP) classification in anterior esthetic region using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images.
Materials and Methods: CBCT images which met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were classified according to a novel classification of AA arch forms (Bulyalert 2018) and a SRP classification (Kan 2011). Then, the angulations of the root axis and the alveolar bone axis were measured using the mid-sagittal CBCT images of each tooth. The relationship of the angulations in …

Preparation And Antimicrobial Activity Of Caprylic Acid Emulsion For Food Coating, Raweewan Bunyovimonnat

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Antimicrobial food coating is the interesting method for food preservation, especially in fruits and vegetables. Previous studies have been reported that the caprylic acid had the antimicrobial activity against a variety of microorganisms. However, little research has been conducted on the use of caprylic acid in the form of food coatings. Therefore, this study aims to determine the optimum conditions for the caprylic acid emulsion preparation and to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of the emulsion, including the effect of food coatings with caprylic acid emulsion on physical properties and microbial growth inhibition. Emulsions containing 4% w/v caprylic acid (oil) and …

Utilization Of Biochar Coupled With Coal Combustion Products For Degraded Soil Amendment, Thidphavanh Sengsingkham Jan 2018

Utilization Of Biochar Coupled With Coal Combustion Products For Degraded Soil Amendment, Thidphavanh Sengsingkham

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Low Salinity Waterflooding (LSWF) has been intensively studied worldwide as it is a low-cost technique. By injecting water with very low salinity compared to formation water in the reservoir, the method changes equilibrium between rock surface, oil and surrounding water, causing wettability alteration through Multi-component Ion Exchange (MIE) mechanism. In this study, ammonium ion is added into low salinity water to facilitate the MIE mechanism in shaly-sandstones reservoir. Experiments are performed with shaly-sandstone rock as it contains both calcium and magnesium ions as part of clays and ammonium ion can express its potential by triggering MIE mechanism. Stirring test, spontaneous …

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Petroleum products are the major energy sources that drive global economy. The exploration and exploitation of crude petroleum oil increase the potential risk for oil spills in marine ecosystem. In this work, two non-pathogenic sponge-associated bacteria were developed as immobilized bacterial co-culture for crude oil removal from seawater. Two bacteria were Spingobium sp. MO2-4 that could degrade crude oil, diesel oil, and fuel oil, and Bacillus megaterium TL01-2 that could degrade crude oil, possessed high cell surface hydrophobicity, could tolerate heavy metal, and was able to form biofilm.. The modified polyurethane foam, aquaporous gel (AQ), was used as carrier for …

Diesel Removal Efficiency In Soil Washing Process By Mixed Solution Of Nonionic Surfactant And Biosurfactant, Pajaree Boonyathai

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

In this study, Tween 80 and three biosurfactant (Rhamnolipid, Saponin and Lipopeptide) were mixed to formulate the appropriate surfactant solution for diesel removal from contaminated soil by washing process. The mixed surfactant system was fixed at 5% w/v of active surfactants concentration in total with different mass ratio of Tween 80 to biosurfactant at 9:1, 8:2 and 7:3 of total concentration. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) of various ratio surfactant mixtures and their interfacial tension (IFT) with diesel were determined and compared with their individual surfactant. The results illustrate that mixed Tween and Lipopeptide at 9:1 mass ratio had the …

Formulation Of Oil Dispersants By Mixing Lipopeptide Biosurfactant And Non-Ionic Surfactants, Parisarin Nawavimarn

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Marine oil spill can cause various harmful impacts to the environment. To solve this problem, dispersant is usually applied to enhance petroleum remediation in seawater. The commercial dispersants mostly contain surfactant and solvent that can be toxic to marine lives. This study aimed to formulate solvent-free biosurfactant-based dispersants by mixing lipopeptides from Bacillus subtilis GY19 with fatty alcohol ethoxylate (Dehydol LS7TH), a low toxicity nonionic surfactant. Hydrophilic-lipophilic deviation (HLD) concept was applied. The fractions of lipopeptide and dehydol LS7TH were determined based on the equivalent alkane carbon number (EACN) of hydrocarbons under seawater salinity (34ppt). The molar fractions of lipoppeptide …

Preparation And Stabilization Of Saccharide Fiber Produced By Centrifugal Spinning, Pattama Donghuntong

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

The objectives of this study were to prepare saccharide fiber via centrifugal spinning and further investigate its stability under stress condition. Different saccharides were chosen and spun via centrifugal force to form thread like matter. The results indicated that sucrose (SC) and trehalose (TH) could be fabricated as fiber whereas other saccharides were not able to form. The formation of fiber mainly involved with glass transition temperature (Tg), molten ability including stability of saccharide after melting. High Tg saccharides were a good candidate on fiber preparation. Homogeneous melting with appreciable stability was another factor affecting on fiber preparation. Decomposing after …
