Millions of people around the world potentially expose to arsenic (As) contaminated groundwater. Besides, the dominant form of As in groundwater is arsenite (As+3) and is more toxic than arsenate (As+5). This study integrated the microbial investigation, geochemical modeling, and multivariate statistical analysis to investigate the arsenite-oxidizing bacteria community from As-contaminated groundwater and its environmental influencing factors in order to understand and further develop the in-situ arsenic bioremediation technology. Leptospira spp. consist of non-pathogenic and pathogenic species. The bacteria can survive in diverse environments and therefore need mechanisms of rapid adaptation to environmental changes. However, molecular mechanisms of stress response in Leptospira are not fully understood. Carbon Storage Regulator A (CsrA) is a well-characterized, conserved, post-transcriptional global regulator that plays a critical role in response to environmental changes in many bacteria. CsrA has been reported to regulate several pathways such as glycogen metabolism, motility, biofilm formation, and virulence-associated genes. Along this line, acemannan, a polysaccharide extracted from aloe vera, would be a promising biomaterial for vital pulp therapy as it is shown to induce mineralized bridge formation in animal and clinical studies. This study gathered potential 95 variables from a literature review. Through the process of expert review, these were refined into 49 critical variables. Moreover, pilot study, with participation from co-operatives and farmers, aims to develop conceptual frameworks in six areas: performance and commitment, internal and external collaboration, measurement and evaluation, joint operation, sharing and innovation, and negotiation. Furthermore, 26 factors were identified clearly by exploratory factory analysis. The main study was conducted via a paper-based questionnaire with 1,224 respondents nationwide. Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) are important for the progression of lupus nephritis after renal I/R injury. Because neutrophils are the first immune cell that respond to tissue damage, neutrophils might be an important cell that determines renal I/R injury. However, uncertainty remains as to how these forests would respond to environmental changes under water deficit conditions. Here, we conducted a study of seasonal variation in leaf water status and hydraulic properties of dominant tree species across forest successional stages in Khao Yai National Park, Thailand. Global DNA hypomethylation promotes genomic instability through the accumulation of DNA damage and resulted in an increasing rate of mutation. To stabilize the genome, cells possess an epigenetic mechanism to reduce DNA tension that causes DNA damages, named Replication-Independent Endogenous DNA Double-Strand Breaks (RIND-EDSBs). Due to their biological roles, this type of physiologic EDSBs act as youth-associated genomic-stabilizing DNA gaps (Youth-DNA-GAPs). The first phase is about the investigation of cell viability and damage of white blood cells after sorting in both a spiral microchannel and contraction and expansion array (CEA) at appropriate flow rates for cell separation. Molecular subtyping of colorectal cancer using consensus molecular subtype (CMS) system demonstrated the potential predictive value for tumor progression and treatment response. However, the CMS system was developed from data of whole tissues containing both cancer and non-tumor transcripts components for classification which does not directly represent intrinsic heterogeneity of cancer cells. Due to its several mechanisms of action, curcumin (CUR) has been employed as adjuvant therapy in treating psoriasis. Limited oral bioavailability was the problem for the development of CUR for therapeutic purposes. Therefore, many approaches, including the prodrug strategy, have been devised to address Cur's drawbacks. CUR was conjugated with mycophenolic acid (MPA) as a new prodrug in this research. Characterization of MPA-CUR structure was done by FT-IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and MS. MPA-CUR showed water solubility at 0.73 μM and log P at 2.33, respectively. Herein, we propose a strategy to exploit the fluorescence quenching of carbon quantum dots (CQDs) combined with surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) technique to detect Hg2+. CQDs exhibit strong fluorescence emission interfering SERS measurement. However, with the presence of Hg2+, fluorescence from CQDs can be quenched, and the SERS spectrum can be collected. Halophilic Bacilllus subtilis P5-6 contains bacteriocin encoding genes (subtilin and subtilosin). It has been reported as a potential strain developed to be a protective culture that could reduce viable count of Staphylococcus aureus and prolong the freshness when applied in cheese. The aim of this research was to evaluate bacteriocin generation property of P5-6 and to optimize the bacteriocin production methods for application as food bio-preservative in protective culture form. Through gene assay, only subtilosin gene expression was detected along with housekeeping gene BA-rpoB when co-cultured P5-6 with Staphylococcus aureus. In this work, a simple method for urinary oxalate determination was developed using testing paper modified with reddish-brown Fe(III)-curcumin complex. Oxalate in sample interacted with Fe(III) ions on the surface of the testing paper to form a Fe(III)-oxalate complex in solution, resulting in a decrease of the amount of Fe(III)-curcumin complex on the paper surface. The amount of the remaining Fe(III)-curcumin complex on the testing paper was inversely proportional to the oxalate level in the sample solution. A change of the testing paper color from reddish-brown to yellow could be observed and the color intensity was determined by ImageJ program. …

Paper-based analytical device was fabricated by a polymer screen printing and wax printing methods. The various types of device were designed for simultaneous heavy metal ions detection in synthetic unknown and real water samples. The colorimetric method was applied to detect the heavy metal ions using 1-(2-pyridylazo)-2-naphthol, bathophenanthroline, 1, 5-diphenylcarbazide, bathocuproine, dimethylglyoxime, dithizone, and 4-(2-pyridylazo) resorcinol as complexing agents. However, complexing agents require very highly selectivity. To improve the selectivity for heavy metal ion detection, a device was designed with pretreatment zones and the masking agents were applied to remove interfering ions. This research was conducted to study the antioxidant traits that contained the total phenolic content (TPC), total flavonoid content (TFC), and the antioxidant capacity (AC), by ABTS assay in the seed of 174 Thai rice cultivars, comprising 152 white, 10 red, and 12 purple pericarp cultivars. The hierarchical cluster analysis was evaluated, and the rice cultivars were classified into four clusters based on the antioxidant. Cluster I comprised of 72 white pericarp cultivars and had the lowest TPC, TFC, and AC. Cluster II contained 80 white cultivars and showed higher TFC values than cluster I. The effects of ketamine combined with dexmedetomidine and ketamine combined with xylazine on analgesia and cardiopulmonary variables in rabbits were evaluated in eight healthy New Zealand White rabbits. The experiment used a randomized double-crossover design. The rabbits were randomly divided into two groups, Group KD (n=4: 2 males/2 females) receivied 35 mg kg -1of ketamine and 0.5 mg kg -1of dexmedetomidine SC, while Group KX (n=4: 2 males/2 females) receivied 35 mg kg -1of ketamine and 5 mg kg -1of xylazine SC.
