Surfactant solutions are commonly used for the remediation of petroleum-contaminated soil due to their good petroleum removal performance, time-saving capability, and cost effectiveness. However, applying surfactants in excess concentrations could make oil recovery difficult. Moreover, residual surfactants in soil are toxic to microorganisms and plants. The purpose of this study was to determine minimum toe clearance and lower limb kinematics at initial swing and mid-swing phase during walking over the obstacles in patients with knee osteoarthritis after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Twenty patients aged 65-85 years with knee OA were included to the study before surgery, three and six months following TKA and twenty age-matched healthy controls were collected the data for comparisons. This research aimed to fabricate X-ray shielding substrates using amorphous cellulose from office waste paper and eucalyptus pulp mixed with natural rubber to produce the prototypes. The amorphous cellulose was prepared using only the sulfuric acid at 0 °C to rearrange the crystalline chain to the amorphous chain. After that, the barium sulfate/amorphous cellulose composite (Ba/AC) was regenerated using barium chloride solution. Thrombopoiesis is the process of platelet production from hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). Glycoproteins (GP) Ib-IX-V that is expressed on the surface of megakaryocytes and platelets binds von Willebrand factor (VWF) plays roles in platelet production. Either the GPIb deficiency or hyper-function can cause macrothrombocytopenia, the molecular mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, the pathogenesis investigations were performed in the human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) model. In the present study aimed to elucidate the effect of ovalitenone on the suppression of EMT and metastasis-related behaviors, including cell movement and growth under detached conditions, and cancer stem cells (CSCs), of lung cancer cells. Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) has been increasing reported worldwide. The aims of this study were to investigate the mechanisms of carbapenem resistance in K. pneumoniae Thai isolates and study the synergistic activities of antibiotic combinations against CRKP isolates. Two-hundred and forty CRKP clinical isolates were obtained from patients at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital between September 2016 and April 2020. The antibiotic susceptibility testing was determined by agar dilution to imipenem, meropenem, amikacin, fosfomycin, ciprofloxacin and by broth microdilution to colistin. Nanoscale zerovalent iron (nZVI) plays a significant role in environmental remediation including the removal of arsenic from groundwater and drinking water. This study synthesized modified nZVI particles in order to remove arsenic in drinking water. Reductive precipitation under various conditions was used to produce non-modified nZVI (B-nZVI) and lignin-modified nZVI using either 1 g/L lignin solution (L-nZVI) or pulp and paper wastewater (P-nZVI) as the substrate. Riceberry rice, a new pigmented rice variety from Thailand, contained high anthocyanin content and expressed various biological activities. This study aimed to investigate the anti-obesity effects of Riceberry rice extract (RBE) in 3T3-L1 preadipocytes and to identify the mechanism of RBE and its phytochemicals on insulin secretion from pancreatic INS-1 cells. In 3T3-L1 cells, RBE inhibited preadipocyte proliferation by inducing cell cycle arrest without causing cytotoxicity. During adipogenesis, RBE downregulated transcription factor and adipogenic gene expression leading to the decrease in adipocyte number and triglyceride accumulation. The aims of this study were to quantify greenhouse gases (GHGs) emission, identify feasibility of mitigation options in selected provinces, and to evaluate the performance of local capacity to support Thailand's Nationally Determined Contributed (NDC) and 1.5oC limit pathway. Three provinces, including Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Rayong of Thailand were selected as case studies. The results revealed that stationary energy was the greatest contribution to the city's GHGs emissions in all case studies. The shifting of autophagy, a catabolic process for cell survival, toward death could be a potential mode of anti-cancer drug action. In addition, autophagic cell death (ACD) is an alternative death mechanism in resistant malignant cancer cells. This study, we demonstrated how PE5, a stilbene compound, exhibits potent ACD-promoting activity and apoptosis in lung cancer cells that may offer an opportunity for novel cancer treatment. It was found that PE5 exerted a higher toxic effect toward cancer cells compared with its effect on normal cells.
