A Comparative Study On Out Of Scope Detection For Chest X-Ray Images, Nuttapol Kamolkunasiri
A Comparative Study On Out Of Scope Detection For Chest X-Ray Images, Nuttapol Kamolkunasiri
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Image classification models in actual applications may receive input outside the intended data distribution. For crucial applications such as clinical decision-making, it is critical that a model can recognize and describe such out-of-distribution (OOD) inputs. The objective of this study is to investigate the efficacy of several approaches for OOD identification in medical images. We examine three classes of OOD detection methods (Classification models, Confidence-based models, and Generative models) on the data of X-ray images. We found that simple classification methods and HealthyGAN perform the best overall. However, HealthyGAN cannot generalize to unseen scenarios, while classification models still retain some …

The Socio-Economic Determinants Of The Life Satisfaction Of Older Persons In Myanmar In 2019, Myo Thandar
The Socio-Economic Determinants Of The Life Satisfaction Of Older Persons In Myanmar In 2019, Myo Thandar
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Myanmar has undergone significant demographic changes, and the share of the older population has increased. Myanmar is facing the challenge in providing social protections to the increasing number of older people, like many other rapidly-ageing societies. As people get older, their physical health and functional ability deteriorate and, as a result, their life satisfaction also declines in most cases. Therefore, it is crucial to consider factors that contribute to the perception of life satisfaction among this venerable cohort. This study explored the determinants of life satisfaction of older persons and investigated whether there are gender differences in the determinants of …

Classification Of Cardiac Arrhythmias Based On Overlapped Ecg Image With Lightweight Neural Network, Khaing Su Thway
Classification Of Cardiac Arrhythmias Based On Overlapped Ecg Image With Lightweight Neural Network, Khaing Su Thway
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
This dissertation presents the classification of different types of cardiac arrhythmias, including Atrial Fibrillation (AF), Normal Sinus Rhythm (NSR), Premature Atrial Contraction (PAC), and Premature Ventricular Contraction (PVC), using a lightweight neural network. A novel ECG data transformation method, referred to as transforming into overlapped ECG images, has been developed and utilized as input images for our neural network. During the transformation process, individual heartbeats within a 30-second time frame are cropped based on heart rate calculations. These resulting beats are then overlapped with respect to the x and y axis limits, generating distinctive images representing different arrhythmia types examined …

Functional Split In 5g Cloud Radio Access Network Using Particle Swarm Optimization, Wai Phyo
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
The Cloud Radio Access Network (C-RAN) is an innovative approach that has the potential to significantly reduce the expenses of setting up and operating wireless networks. C-RAN's placement of RAN functions, which strives to reduce bandwidth utilization and computation costs, is a critical component. In this study, our main goal is to reduce the costs associated with functionally placing the RAN while accounting for the computational expense and the front-haul bandwidth usage among various users. To achieve this, we propose to apply Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to achieve effective allocation of computational resources and the front-haul bandwidth, ensuring an efficient …

Effects Of The Writing Instructional Model With Integration Of Inquiry-Based Learning And Visual Literacy On 21st Century Skills Of Efl Learners, Patsawut Sukserm
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Although a body of research illustrates the potential of inquiry-based learning in promoting the 21st century skills among English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students (AbuRezeq, 2018; Imansyan et al., 2019; Milatasari, 2013; Palupi et al., 2020; Tongjean et al., 2019), other studies have indicated its occasional failure in eliciting students’ engagement (Duschl & Wright, 1989; Gill, 2005), which affects students’ success in language learning. This results in the need to leverage other pedagogical strategies, including visual literacy, to increase the efficacy of inquiry-based learning (Gonzalez-Ledo, 2015; Maricimoi, 2017; Navidinia et al., 2018; Rokhaniyah, 2019, Sulastri, 2019; Tayib, 2015; Villasor, …

The Impact Of Government Response To Covid-19 On Stock Return Predictability, Disayadej Dangdej
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Recession is known to cause an increase in stock return predictability. The COVID-19 pandemics had not only resulted in sickness and loss of life but also plunged global economy into recession prompting governments to come up with measures to combat the disease. This paper first confirms that return predictability increased due the spread of COVID-19 using data from 41 countries on variations of popular predictors. Furthermore, it shows that government responses to COVID-19 alleviated the pandemic, the recession and reduced the return predictability with varying impact for different government measures. However, cases and deaths from COVID-19 which should have intensified …
Development Of High Protein Beverage From Hydrolyzed Egg White, Nuntorn Charoensak
Development Of High Protein Beverage From Hydrolyzed Egg White, Nuntorn Charoensak
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
The primary objective of this study was to examine the impact of enzymatic treatment on pasteurized egg white protein (EWP) and assess its influence on various physicochemical properties and antioxidant activity. Our findings revealed that the addition of SDAY10 enzymes led to a significant increase in lightness (L*), redness (a*), and yellowness (b*) parameters. Furthermore, higher concentrations of the enzyme resulted in a considerable reduction in pH, viscosity, and volume mean diameter (D4,3) of EWP protein compared to the control group (P < 0.05). Additionally, the application of SDAY10 enzyme (0.1-0.3% w/v) for EWP hydrolysis exhibited a noteworthy enhancement in antioxidant activity (measured by DPPH, ABTS, and FRAP assays) compared to lower enzyme concentrations. Notably, the 0.3% concentration of SDAY10 exhibited the highest release of amino acids during in vitro digestion and received the highest sensory evaluation score. Consequently, employing SDAY10 enzymes at a concentration of 0.3% w/v for EWP hydrolysis demonstrates significant potential for improving the physical properties of EWP and enhancing antioxidant activity. However, it is imperative to investigate the sensory evaluation with regards to the bitterness of the product developed using such enzymes.

Effects Of Heat And Uv-C Curing On Properties Of Soy Protein Film, Tanjina Akter
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
This study aimed to investigate the effects of heat curing and UV-C curing on properties of soy protein film. Both the heat and UV-C treatments were applied to either film-forming solution or pre-formed film. In the first part, film-forming solution or pre-formed film was cured at 60, 70, or 80°C for 2, 4, or 6 h. Heat curing had no effect on film thickness (p>0.05), but it did improve tensile strength of the films. Pre-formed film cured at 70°C for 4 h exhibited the highest tensile strength (3.49 MPa), which was 1.8 times higher than the control. Increasing Raman …
