Egg Shape As A Generalized Radial Basis Function For Discard-After-Learn Method In Streaming Data, Warawut Nualplaud

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Radial Basis Function is commonly used as the decision boundaries for supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms due to its simplicity. But the symmetric property of the circular or elliptic shapes could deteriorate the fitness of the boundaries when the distribution of the data is asymmetric, especially in the data stream processing where the distribution of the data is temporal. In this thesis, we propose a new 2-dimensional data capsule structure using Yamamoto’s egg function. This structure can adjust its shape to be symmetric (i.e., circular or elliptic) or asymmetric (i.e., egg-shaped) depending on the configuration of its parameters, allowing it to …

Streaming Image Classification Using Class-Wise Incremental Learning And Pre-Trained Convolution Neural Network, Kongkan Kalakan Jan 2024

Streaming Image Classification Using Class-Wise Incremental Learning And Pre-Trained Convolution Neural Network, Kongkan Kalakan

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Learning in deep learning architectures for computer vision is a resource-intensive process. Although the accuracy of state-of-the-art models has improved over time, these methods still require significant time and memory to process large datasets, particularly in the context of streaming image data. The necessity to store and reprocess old data each time new data is introduced leads to inefficient resource usage. A more efficient approach is to learn from data in chunks and discard the previously processed data. However, this strategy often results in catastrophic forgetting. In this study, we propose a novel algorithm called CNN-SCIL, which enhances the Streaming …
