Specifying The Desired Attributes Of Solutions To Vehicle Routing Problems With Time Windows Using Machine Learning, Teerapong Chaochanglek

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

A vehicle routing problem with time windows (VRPTW) has been studied widely in the literature. Most effective methods to find a solution are still heuristics, which are constructed from the inventor’s ideas of how a good solution should be obtained, and their efficiency is quantified only by empirical data. However, these ideas may or may not yield a near-optimal solution. It would be better if we can identify some characteristics of a solution to VRPTW to help guide the heuristic in the right direction. Arnold and Sörensen had proposed a statistical learning model to determine a characteristic of a near-optimal …

Relationships Among Employee Turnover Intention And Perception Of Employees On Organisational Readiness For Change, Transformational Leadership, And Usability Of Flexible Work Arrangement: Mediating Role Of Organisational Commitment In Technology-Related Industries In Thailand, Siraprapa Meerat

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Challenges in retaining employees within Thailand's technology industries, where adaptability to global changes is essential, have intensified, leading to higher turnover intentions. This study examines how organizational readiness for change, transformational leadership, and flexible work arrangements influence turnover intention, with organizational commitment as a mediating factor. Using a survey of 229 employees in Thailand’s technology sector and mediation analysis through the PROCESS tool in SPSS, the study revealed distinct patterns of influence. Transformational leadership showed both a direct negative effect on turnover intention (b = -0.5768, p < .01) and an indirect effect through organizational commitment (b = -0.1573, 95% CI [-0.2478, -0.0842]), indicating partial mediation. Organizational readiness had a direct negative effect on turnover intention (b = -0.2988, p < .05) without a mediating role. Flexible work arrangements did not have a direct effect on turnover intention (b = 0.0506, p = .4576) but exhibited a significant indirect effect through reduced organizational commitment (b = 0.0394, 95% CI [-0.0781, -0.0107]), indicating full mediation. These findings provide strategic insights into how leadership practices, organizational preparedness, and flexible work design each play a distinct role in influencing employee commitment and retention. The results offer valuable guidance for human resource professionals seeking to strengthen leadership capability, improve change communication, and implement flexible work policies that support employee engagement and reduce turnover intention.

Closed-Form Formulas For Conditional Moments Of Stochastic Volatility Markovswitching Model And Applications, Supavit Kiatteerarat

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

In the present day, the regime-switching model plays a crucial role in the financial world. This thesis studies a stochastic volatility model with regime switching, specifically examining a Markovian regime-switching process known as Cox-Ingersoll-Ross. Analytical formulas for the conditional moment generation function of the process are developed, presenting both a linearly closed-form and an exponentially closed-form. The formulas are derived by solving a partial differential equation (PDE) that obtains the Feynman-Kac Theorem. We also present the relationship between these two closed-forms, demonstrated by using the formula by Faà Bruno. Additionally, a numerical validation, the Monte Carlo method, is employed to …

Dry Dipterocarp Forests (DDFs) in Thailand face severe degradation, primarily from human-induced fires, which significantly diminishes ectomycorrhizal (ECM) fungal diversity and the productivity of valuable wild mushrooms, such as Astraeus odoratus. However, concrete guidelines for restoring ECM fungal diversity in these degraded areas are currently lacking. This research aimed to develop a sustainable approach to enhance ECM fungal diversity and facilitate the restoration of degraded DDFs by utilizing A. odoratus mycelia. Furthermore, we developed alginate-encapsulated A. odoratus mycelial beads to extend inoculum viability and applicability. The study was conducted at two degraded DDF sites: Ban Kor Thung and Ban Mae …

Evaluating The Efficacy Of An Early Vaccination Strategy After Farrowing Using A Modified Live Prrs Vaccine And Post-Weaning Challenge With Thai Hp-Prrs, Apichart Prapattanakullawong Jan 2024

Evaluating The Efficacy Of An Early Vaccination Strategy After Farrowing Using A Modified Live Prrs Vaccine And Post-Weaning Challenge With Thai Hp-Prrs, Apichart Prapattanakullawong

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) is a major pathogen responsible for substantial economic losses in the global swine industry, adversely affecting both reproductive and respiratory health. In Thailand, early PRRSV infections in suckling and nursery pigs are commonly observed, necessitating the implementation of early vaccination strategies. However, early vaccination in young piglets has been controversial due to concerns about interfering maternal-derived antibodies (MDA) and the competency of the piglets' immune system. The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of a modified-live virus (MLV) PRRS vaccination in early-age piglets from PRRSV-positive farms by assessing immune responses …

Genotypic Characterization And Amr Risk Assessment Of Esbl- Producing And Fluoroquinolone-Resistant Salmonella Spp. From Pork Collected In Bangkok, Thawanrut Kiatyingangsulee

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

This study aimed to 1) determine the prevalence of ESBL-producing and fluoroquinolone-resistant Salmonella in pork, 2) investigate their genomic characteristics, and 3) estimate the risk of consumer exposure. Pork samples were collected from 58 markets across 19 districts in Bangkok. The study focused on third-generation cephalosporin resistance mediated by ESBLs and fluoroquinolone resistance, representing horizontal and vertical gene transfer, respectively. Out of 793 pork samples, 339 (42.8%) were positive for Salmonella, yielding 531 isolates from 33 serotypes. The most common were Salmonella Rissen (22.6%), Sinstorf (16.8%), and Derby (10.2%). Antimicrobial susceptibility testing showed 28.2% of isolates were ESBL producers and …

Efficacy Of Cell-Free Supernatants Based Nano-Application From Thai Probiotic Bacteria As An Alternative Preservative In Meat Against Foodborne Pathogens, Thin Zar Soe

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

This study evaluates whether the use of cell-free supernatants (CFS) derived from Thai probiotic bacteria as natural preservatives in meat products, provides a safer alternative to chemical preservatives. The objectives include developing a nano-encapsulation technique to enhance the stability and efficacy of CFS, and assessing the effectiveness of nano-encapsulated CFS (Nano-CFS) in maintaining meat safety and quality during storage and evaluating the antibacterial efficacy of CFS and (Nano-CFS) against common foodborne pathogens, determining the minimal inhibitory and bactericidal concentrations (MIC and MBC). The CFS was prepared from the Thai probiotic strains. Antibacterial activity was determined using agar well diffusion and …

Genomics Approach For Ex Situ Conservation Of Asian King Vulture And Steppe Eagle, Wannapol Buthasane Jan 2024

Genomics Approach For Ex Situ Conservation Of Asian King Vulture And Steppe Eagle, Wannapol Buthasane

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

The Asian king vulture (Sarcogyps calvus, AKV), an ecologically important forest scavenger, is an Old World vulture in the family Accipitridae. It is classified as a critically endangered species, with no genomic data currently available. This dissertation aimed to assemble a high-quality reference genome to enhance understanding of its genetic background, scavenging adaptations and genetic diversity within Thailand’s captive population. A hybrid genome assembly combining Pacific Biosciences (PacBio) long-read and MGI short-read sequencing was generated from DNA extracted from the whole blood of a female individual. Comparative genomic analyses with New World vultures (NWVs) and other Accipitridae species revealed distinct …
