Cuckoo Search And Genetic Algorithm Hybrid Schemes For Optimization Problems, Mohamed Abdel-Baset, Ibrahim Hezam

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper, two hybrid schemes using cuckoo search algorithm and genetic algorithm are proposed. In the two hybrid schemes, the algorithm consists of two phases in the first phase, CS (or GA) explores the search space. In the second phase, to improve global search and get rid of trapping into several local optima. The novel hybrid algorithms are applied to solve 15 benchmark functions chosen from literature. The simulation results and comparison with classical CS and GA algorithms confirm the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms in solving various benchmark optimization functions.

On The Fine Structure Of Spectra Of Upper Triangular Double-Band Matrices As Operators On ℓp Spaces, Saad R. El-Shabrawy, Suad H. Abu-Janah

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In the present paper, we study the fine structure of spectra of infinite upper triangular double-band matrices as operators on ℓp, where 1 ≤ p < ¥. Three methods for classifying the spectrum are considered. Moreover, the obtained results are used to study the eigenvalue problem associated with certain infinite matrices. Our results improve and generalize many known results in the current literature.

Stability And Spatial Chaos In 2d Hénon System, Fuyan Sun, Zongwang Lü

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

This paper is concerned with two-dimensional(2-D) discrete system of the following form xm+1,n +axm,n+1 = f (m, (1+a)xm,n,bxm−1,n), where a,m,b is a real parameters. We investigate the fixed planes, stability of the fixed planes and spatial chaos behavior for this system. A stability condition for the fixed plane is given, and it is proven analytically that for some parameter values the system has a transversal homoclinic orbit, which is a verification of this system to be chaotic in the sense of Li-Yorke. These results extend the corresponding results in the one-dimensional (1-D) H´enon system: xm+1,n0 = f (m, xm,n0,bxm−1,n0 ), where …

Families Of Pairing-Friendly Elliptic Curves From A Polynomial Modification Of The Dupont-Enge-Morain Method, Hyang-Sook Lee, Pa-Ra Lee Mar 2016

Families Of Pairing-Friendly Elliptic Curves From A Polynomial Modification Of The Dupont-Enge-Morain Method, Hyang-Sook Lee, Pa-Ra Lee

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

A general method for constructing families of pairing-friendly elliptic curves is the Brezing-Weng method. In many cases, the Brezing-Weng method generates curves with discriminant D = 1 or 3 and restricts the form of r(x) to be a cyclotomic polynomial. However, since we desire a greater degree of randomness on curve parameters to maximize security, there have been studies to develop algorithms that are applicable for almost arbitrary values of D and more various forms of r(x). In this paper, we suggest a new method to construct families of pairing-friendly elliptic curves with variable D and no restriction on the …

An Analytical Approach To Time-Fractional Harry Dym Equation, Olaniyi Samuel Iyiola, Yaé Ulrich Gaba Mar 2016

An Analytical Approach To Time-Fractional Harry Dym Equation, Olaniyi Samuel Iyiola, Yaé Ulrich Gaba

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper, we consider the time-fractional Harry Dym equation. An analytical solution is obtained in series form using q-Homotopy Analysis Method (q-HAM). The presence of the auxiliary parameter h and the fraction-factor in this method gives it an edge over other existing analytical methods for non-linear differential equations. Comparisons are made with several other analytical methods. Our error analysis shows that the analytical solution converges very rapidly to the exact solution. Numerical results are obtained using Mathematica 9 and MATLAB R2012b.

A Unified Version Of Ran And Reuring’S Theorem And Nieto And Rodr?Guez-L?Pez’S Theorem And Low-Dimensional Generalizations, Antonio-Francisco Rold?N-L?Pez-De-Hierro Mar 2016

A Unified Version Of Ran And Reuring’S Theorem And Nieto And Rodr?Guez-L?Pez’S Theorem And Low-Dimensional Generalizations, Antonio-Francisco Rold?N-L?Pez-De-Hierro

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper, we show the very close relationship between two of the pioneering theorems on fixed point theory in partially ordered metric spaces, such us Ran and Reuring’s theorem and Nieto and Rodr´ıguez-L´opez’s theorem. Although they seem to be independent, they are both two faces of an unified result. Furthermore, we extend the kind of control functions involved in the contractivity condition and we use preorders rather than partial orders, which have the main advantage of unify, in a same condition, two usual cases: the framework in which none binary relation is considered and the partially ordered case.

The modern flight control systems are complex since they have a non-linear nature. Also, modern aerospace vehicles are expected to have non-conventional flight envelopes and, in order to operate in uncertain environments, they must guarantee a high level of robustness and adaptability. A Neural Networks controller can be used in applications with manned or unmanned aerial vehicles. The paper shows the mathematical model for hexacopter dynamics and a comparison between two different technique for stabilization and trajectory control: proportional, integral, derivative controller and real rime system controller based on Neural Networks. Numerical simulations are performed in order to validate both mathematical …

Numerical Solution Of The Time Dependent Emden- Fowler Equations With Boundary Conditions Using Modified Decomposition Method, Randhir Singh, Abdul-Majid Wazwaz Mar 2016

Numerical Solution Of The Time Dependent Emden- Fowler Equations With Boundary Conditions Using Modified Decomposition Method, Randhir Singh, Abdul-Majid Wazwaz

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

We propose a new modification to Adomian decomposition method for numerical treatment of the time-dependent Emden- Fowler-types equations with the Neumann and Dirichlet boundary conditions. In new modified method, we use all the boundary conditions to derive an integral equation before establishing the recursive scheme. The new modified decomposition method (MDM) will be used without unknown constants while computing the successive solution components. Unlike the recursive schemes that result from using the ADM, the new MDM avoids solving a sequence of nonlinear algebraic or transcendental equations for the derivation of unknown constants. Moreover, the proposed technique is reliable enough to …

In this paper, we present a new hybrid swarm optimization and differential evolution algorithm for solving constrained and engineering optimization problems. The proposed algorithm is called hybrid particle swarm optimization and differential evolution with population size reduction (HPSODEPSR). The powerful performance of any metaheuristics algorithm is measured by its capability to balance between the exploration and exploitation process. In the beginning of the search, the algorithm needs to explore the search space with a large number of solutions in the population then during the search the need of the exploration process is reduces while the need of the exposition process …

A Driver Safety Information Broadcast Protocol For Vanet, Ghadah Aldabbagh, Maaz Rehan, Halabi Hasbullah, Waqas Rehan, Omer Chughtai

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Due to the highly mobile nature of VANET, especially on highways, a reliable and fast penetration of emergency messages is required so that in-time decisions can be performed. A broadcast routing protocol can perform flooding in sparse network but it will suffer from high control overhead, higher delay and lower packet delivery ratio in dense environment. Since, a significant number of VANET messages including neighbour discovery, safety, destination discovery, location and service advertisements is broadcast, therefore, the area of broadcast routing is important and needs careful design considerations. In this article, we propose ZoomOut Broadcast Routing Protocol for driver safety …

Modelling A Video Conference System With Spbc, Hermenegilda Maci?, Valent?N Valero, Fernando Cuartero, M. Carmen Ruiz, Igor V. Tarasyuk

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Stochastic Petri Box Calculus (sPBC) with immediate multiactions is an algebraic model for the description of concurrent systems, whose activities have a random time associated (governed by an exponential distribution) or they are immediate (no time is required for their execution). One of the main features of sPBC, in contrast to other classical stochastic process algebras, is that it considers multiactions instead of single actions. Furthermore, a description in this version of sPBC has a natural and easy translation into Generalized Stochastic Petri Nets (GSPNs). In this paper we show how the calculus can be applied to information science phenomena, …

Optimal Approximate Solution For (Α,Β )Γ-Contraction Mappings In Metric Spaces With Applications, Chirasak Mongkolkeha, Wutiphol Sintunavarat

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper, we extend the concept of generalized proximal contractions of the first kind to proximal (a,b )y -contractions types A and B. We show with examples that our new classes of mappings is real generalization of many known classes of non-self and self mappings in literature. We also introduce some condition for proving the best proximity point theorems in such classes. Applying our new concepts, we obtain best proximity point results on metric spaces endowed with an arbitrary binary relation and metric spaces endowed with graph.

Computational Method For Singularly Perturbed Delay Differential Equations With Layer Or Oscillatory Behaviour, G. Bsl Soujanya, Y. N. Reddy Mar 2016

Computational Method For Singularly Perturbed Delay Differential Equations With Layer Or Oscillatory Behaviour, G. Bsl Soujanya, Y. N. Reddy

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper, we describe a computational method for singularly perturbed delay differential equations with layer or oscillatory behaviour. In general, the numerical solution of a second order boundary value problem will be more difficult than the numerical solution of the first order differential equation. Hence, it is preferable to convert the second order problem into first order problems. In this method, we first convert the second order singularly perturbed delay differential equation to first order neutral type delay differential equation and employ the Simpson rule. Then, we use the linear interpolation to get tridiagonal system which is solved easily …

A Performance-Based Approach To Automatic Redeployment Of Enterprise Software Applications, Habib Seifzadeh, Hassan Abolhassani, Mohsen Sadighi Moshkenani

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Update of software usually equates disruption to a program’s execution. However, such disruptions in the execution of applications that provide round-the-clock services is not desirable. Examples of such applications include multi-tier enterprise systems with which users may interact via distinct presentation tiers at the same time. Existing software updating systems do not operate in the enterprise applications, or they need most of the redeployment tasks to be performed manually. In this paper, we present a framework capable of Automatically Redeploying Enterprise Software Applications (ARESA). This system combines the idea of incremental and integral updates to preserve the consistency of applications …

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper a novel scheme for video object extraction based on the second generation of the curvelet transform which is called Fast Discrete Curvelet Transform (FDCT) via wrapping is introduced. The main advantages of using FDCT are the approximate properties and the high directional sensitivity of this transform. An imaginary component of the curvelet coefficients to extract the moving objects in the video sequence is used. The proposed algorithm is mainly divided into two steps. The first step is based on estimating the static background from the initial frames using FDCT, the seconded step is based on subtracting the …
