Nevo V. National Labour Court, Gavriel Bach, Shoshana Netanyahu, Ariel Hanoch
Translated Opinions
Petitioner, Dr. Naomi Nevo, was employed for many years by the Jewish Agency for Israel as a sociologist. On reaching the age of 60, she received a notice from her employers that she was to retire on pension, in accordance with the provision in the Pension Rules relating to Jewish Agency employees. This stated that the retirement age for men was 65 and for women 60.
Petitioner brought an action in the Regional Labour Court asking for a declaration that the above provision was void as being discriminatory. Her action was dismissed and so was her appeal to the National …

Hughes Aircraft Company V. State Of Israel, Meir Shamgar, Aharon Barak, Gavriel Bach
Translated Opinions
Appellant, the Plaintiff in the District Court below, sued the Respondents for infringement of a Patent owned by it, which concerns optical display systems utilizing holographic lenses. Respondent 1, the State of Israel, had ordered from Respondent 2, Kaiser Aerospace & Electronics Co., the manufacture and installation in certain aircraft of head-up display systems (HUD), which the Appellant contended infringed its Patent.
The HUD is an information display system installed in the airplane's cockpit that displays information to the pilot concerning the flight, firing and direction of armaments, radar picture, view of enemy aircraft, and the like. Normally, the pilot …
Feminism Historicized: Medieval Misogynist Stereotypes In Contemporary Feminist Jurisprudence, Jeanne L. Schroeder
Feminism Historicized: Medieval Misogynist Stereotypes In Contemporary Feminist Jurisprudence, Jeanne L. Schroeder
Articles
The article argues that contemporary feminist theories are ahistorical and culturally narrow, often mirroring medieval misogynist stereotypes by assuming that late-twentieth-century, white, upper-middle-class American experiences represent universal truths about gender. By examining medieval canon law and societal norms, the analysis reveals that patriarchal structures have persisted across time, adapting to different cultural definitions of masculinity and femininity. The author advocates for a more historically and cross-culturally informed approach to jurisprudence and gender theory to avoid replicating past oppressions.
