Background: Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) substance use data is typically aggregated in a way that not only produces overly generalized results, but also potentially perpetuates stereotypes created by the Model Minority Myth (MMM). This has mutually reinforced a lack of representation and understanding of AAPI substance use experiences and needs. A headache diary was previously employed in studies to develop a machine-learning prediction model. Throughout the United States, rent costs and eviction increases leave low-income people of color more rent-burdened than their white counterparts; these challenges may result in further complex barriers to housing stability for Spanish speakers. In this explorative study, I examined the shared and unique barriers to housing stability for Spanish speakers in Connecticut. I conducted a rapid qualitative analysis of semi-structured individual interviews and focus groups with (N = 14) participants from three larger research projects (Right to Counsel Evaluation, Project ReSIDe, and Tenant Energy Advocacy). HIV stigma is a social determinant of health that can influence adherence to antiretroviraltherapy (ART) and engagement in HIV care that impacts viral suppression levels for people with HIV (PWH). Background: Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AATD) is a rare disease caused by a genetic mutation in the SERPINA1 gene which causes low levels of or no working alpha-1 antitrypsin protein to be made. This results in a number of clinical manifestations, most prominently pulmonary issues such as emphysema. An intravenous infusion of human plasma-derived AAT (augmentation therapy) is sometimes prescribed to patients with emphysema, but there is a need for a greater understanding of the resulting economic burden in this patient population.

Although the relationship between climate change and the built environment is well-established, much less is known about the impact of this relationship on the health of Asian Americans. This study sought to identify available literature that discussed climate change and the built environment for Asian American populations. The majority of the 125 articles screened in (94%) were about Asian Americans and the built environment. Most (49%) articles used national level datasets or included multiple geographic regions, while others primarily represented the East and West Coasts. The opioid crisis has been impacting millions of lives in the United States every day. Most research focuses on the Medicaid population, and those enrolled in Medicare are often overlooked. Those enrolled in Medicare also do not typically have the same coverage benefits as those enrolled in Medicaid or commercial insurance. Background: PPD is one of most common complications of pregnancy but is underdiagnosed and undertreated with less than 10% of women with PPD receiving adequate treatment. Currently, the most well-validated screening questionnaire for perinatal depression, the EPDS, produces a high false positive rate and results in a large number of unnecessary referrals. Firms facing complex objectives often decompose the problems they face, delegating different parts of the decision to distinct subordinates. Using comprehensive data and internal models from a large U.S. airline, we establish that airline pricing is inconsistent with canonical dynamic pricing models. However, we show that observed prices can be rationalized as an equilibrium of a game played by departments who each have decision rights for different inputs that are supplied to the observed pricing heuristic. Hospitals have struggled to control C. difficile due in part to the challenge of identifying asymptomatic C. difficile carriers and because of C. difficile’s ability to survive on environmental surfaces for long periods. Asymptomatic carriers and environmental surfaces can contribute to C. difficile transmission. Screening of all patients for C. difficile upon hospital admission is not feasible and asymptomatic patients may not be accepting of surveillance testing. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the association between dietary patterns (glycemic load scores) and HbA1c levels in children using a 117 item food frequency questionnaire (FFQ). Xylazine, a clonidine analog, is a potent alpha-2 adrenergic agonist used as an analgesic sedative in veterinary medicine. Known to people who inject drugs (PWID) as “tranq”, xylazine has recently infiltrated the U.S. illicit opiate drug supply and has been associated with severe, necrotic lesions, sedation, and respiratory depression. Unlike opiates, xylazine has no human reversal agent or standardized withdrawal treatment protocol and its effects are unclear.

In the United States, 1 in 3 Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Queer (LGBTQ+ ) identified persons has experienced discrimination or unjust or biased treatment of people due to their “race, gender, age, or sexual orientation.” We conducted a scoping review guided by the Joanna Briggs Institute Manual for Evidence Synthesis. In December 2022, two databases were searched: PubMed and Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL).
