Analysis Of Marine Environment Protection Law In Tanzania, Mkakili Fauster Ngowi

World Maritime University Dissertations

The polluting potential of wastes generated is a function of the volume of effluent discharged, their dilution in the receiving water, and their toxicity to marine life. The coastal pollution in Tanzania is no exception to this defined parameter of polluting potential. Most of the factories along the Tanzanian coast often discharge their wastes without treatment directly into the sea. This coupled with the rapidly growing human population and settlements in the coastal zone further exert pressure on the coastal resources. The current state of the Tanzanian marine pollution therefore, is a matter of concern. The environmental challenges that Tanzania …

Introduction To Ship And Marine Engineering Surveys, Inspections And Certifications In Tanzania With Recommendations For Improvements, Onael Ezekiel Mdobilu

World Maritime University Dissertations

Tanzania is claimed to be within the 39 countries in the world rated as the least developed. In such countries, do we need the best marine surveyors and the best surveying organisations? Surely yes. Even the most seriously sick people need the best doctors within the best hospitals for the most effective treatments. In this paper, the author has widely attempted to introduce the subject of ship and marine engineering surveys, inspections and certifications from its basic principles. The Tanzanian Maritime Administration has no marine surveyors. Neither has it recognised any one of the Classification Societies. Most ship surveys are …

Seaport Planning In Zaire : An Analysis Of Constraints And Potentialities, J. Kabwita Tshilomb

World Maritime University Dissertations

A seaport is fundamentally a central place of economic and cultural interchange ; more specifically, it is a place where the mode of transportation changes from land to water-borne systems . As a modern node in a multimodal system , the essential function of a seaport is transport integration ; but in performing this function , and for other reasons , a seaport may also become a major urban centre , an important source of employment , and an influencial factor in regional and national development . Therefore , it is unwise to approach the problems of seaports in isolation. …
