Robert Ground and Margaret Cockeral Family Tree. This family tree chart was compiled by Mamie Ground Hays and Pleasant Ground in 1937. It was recopied in January, 1983 by Karla Ground Lowe, daughter of Clifton Ground. The chart was transcribed by Frankie Ground Stone and Sue Lynn Stone McDaniel in March of 2010.

Various questions, however, have arisen in each institution relative to the required music courses and to the number of hours that should be required of a public school music major. Every American knows some of Stephen Collins Foster's songs, but not everyone who sings My Old Kentucky Home and Old Folks at Home realizes that it was he who wrote those songs. Of the two hundred songs and compositions which Foster published, at least fifteen are constantly sung. Since these songs voice emotions which are fundamental to mankind, they have become more important than the composer himself. For this reason they may be called folk-songs, and because they voice so truly the spirit of America, America is proud to claim them as her own.

This study presents a somewhat connected narrative of the attitudes and contributions of organized labor to education prior to 1860. It has a twofold purpose: first, it is concerned with a consideration of the psychological, economic, social and political background which provided and shaped the determining factors of organized labor's earlier educational attitudes and contributions; and second, with an investigation for evidences as to the nature, extent and significance of these attitudes and contributions in evaluating labor's part in establishing our system of free public school education.
