School psychologists are well positioned to be involved in crisis response at their schools, but little is known about how prepared they are to respond or how accurately they would respond to various crisis events. This project examined school psychologists’ rated levels of preparedness and experience, and how well or accurately they responded to hypothetical crisis vignettes across small-, moderate-, and large-scale events. Results showed that self-rated preparedness and experience were not related to accuracy of response, as measured by a rubric. The purpose of this study was to review the literature around behavioral response to intervention. In recent years, there has been little research conducted on behavioral response to intervention and, furthermore, little research conducted on interventions with respect to ADHD symptoms. A systematic review of the literature was conducted and all available literature on behavioral RTI in the schools with students diagnosed with ADHD since 2005 was identified and reviewed. Demographics of participants included in these studies were reviewed to analyze the population samples being referred for behavioral symptoms of ADHD. Bovine mastitis, caused by a wide array of pathogens, results in a substantial economic loss for the dairy cattle livestock industry. β-defensins are a part of the bovine’s innate immune system and act as the first line of defense against mastitis. Only foundational research has been done on β-defensins’ ability to treat and prevent mastitis. There have been no analytical methods reported in the literature for analyzing β-defensins in bovine milk. This research aims to create an analytical approach to determine β-defensins in bovine milk. This study explores the impact of teacher perception on the instruction and identification of gifted students. All certified teachers in a local elementary school were invited to complete a survey addressing the state of gifted training opportunities and personal perceptions of giftedness in multiple capacities. Results from the survey led to the discussion of four themes: the support for gifted students in the traditional classroom, the amount of professional training for teachers, the identification of gifted students, and the fact that all teachers impact gifted students and their instruction.

An important yet largely unrecognized theme in the thought of Alfred Russel Wallace (1823−1913) was his insistence that all dependably-reported phenomena, even those of aberrant nature, were worthy of a respectful kind of attention: that is, a kind which did not automatically banish difficult subjects to the realm of myth or superstition. In this work, Wallace’s philosophy in this direction is documented, and linked to the world of post-Age-of-Enlightenment revisionism.

To examine the associations between bone mineral density (BMD), body composition and habitual physical activity in women who are overweight/obese. We measured whole-body bone, and body composition (lean mass, fat mass, and total fat percent) via dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (model General Electric Lunar whole-body scanner) in a diverse group of women (N=48, age 26.6+/-4.7 years, 63% Black) living in an urban setting. Building on existing studies of identification, this paper melds crisis research with studies of identity to understand how crises influence workplace identities. To accomplish this, the study addresses two research questions: (a) How are professors’ identities enacted during the COVID-19 crisis? And, how, if at all, does university rhetoric shape the enactment of identity during the COVID-19 crisis? International Journal of Exercise Science 15(4): 570-584, 2022. California law enforcement recruits must perform a body drag before they graduate academy. While this task may be challenging for smaller recruits, no research has analyzed height and body mass relationships with the body drag. Data from 643 recruits (542 males, 101 females) who completed the drag in the final weeks of academy were analyzed. The recruits lifted a 74.84-kg, 1.73-m tall dummy and dragged it 9.75 m as quickly as possible. Accurate assessment of the effectiveness of personnel psychology functions is vital to the field. Many personnel decisions are made based on correlations between predictor variables and measures of job performance; however, those correlations are often affected by range restriction. As encountered in applied practice, range restriction weakens the strength of the correlation. Equations exist to correct for the effects of range restriction on correlations; these equations are widely accepted and used by Industrial-Organizational psychologists today. Recently, a new ontological way of exploring sport and physical activity (PA) has been proposed: the type of PA performed is classified using the four ontological dimensions. This phenomenon has classified PA as individual (I-me), encounter (I-You), team (I-Society), and nature (I-Nature). Educational-based psychological skills training (PST) is effective in terms of Positive Psychology outcomes. Mental toughness (MT), a Positive Psychology construct, is positively associated with sports performance via mostly correlational research. Sports training emphasizes working on the weaknesses of the athlete. Positive Psychology is rooted in strength-based interventions. In Applied Sports Positive Psychology, where females are underrepresented, the two approaches appear contradictory. HISTORY: A 21y/o male, Division III (D3) basketball player inverted his right (R) ankle during practice landing from a jump. The athlete felt a popping sensation over the lateral aspect of his R ankle, had immediate pain and the supervising athletic trainer (AT) evaluated him for major deformity. Unable to ambulate, he was transported to the athletic training room for further examination.

Recently, moderate-to-vigorous intensity physical activity (MVPA) has attracted additional scientific interest (e.g., ACSM recommendations) not only thanks to a) the physical and psychological benefits that can be experienced by the general population following just a single bout, but also b) since high levels of MVPA seem to mitigate the mortality risk associated with high levels of sedentary behavior, such as sitting. Power training affects gait patterns. Power training also affects basketball performance. The Efficiency index (EFF) is the most used in-season basketball performance metric in the US. Strength and conditioning coaches measure power output via specific jumping tests. Face masks reduce the spread of COVID-19, but their impact on respiratory physiology largely remains unknown. While some studies found that exercising while wearing cloth or surgical face masks has no effect on performance or muscle oxygenation, studies have shown wearing surgical masks during high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and aerobic exercise had negative impacts on cardiopulmonary function. However, few studies examined changes in cardiorespiratory metabolism while wearing different types of face masks at rest. Adaptations to resistance training and subsequent performance can be undermined by inadequate inter-set recovery. This time between sets is often uniformly prescribed based on desired training outcomes; however, there is demonstrative evidence that recovery is highly individualized. Methods typically used to monitor recovery were developed for longitudinal use, making them cost- or time -inefficient within a bout of exercise. If valid, the perceptual recovery status (PRS) scale may be used as an efficient and inexpensive recovery assessment tool to monitor individual recovery as well as appropriately modify rest periods.
