Cyclic Voltametry Studies Of Various Ylide Metallocenes, Mark Mojesky
Cyclic Voltametry Studies Of Various Ylide Metallocenes, Mark Mojesky
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
The redox potentials of [Fe(CpSMe2)2]2+ (CpSMe2= dimethysulfoniumcyclopentadienflide), [Ni(CpSMe2)2]2+, [Co(CpSMe2)2]2+, [Mn(CpSMe2)2]2+, (CpPPh3)HgBr2 (CpPPh3= triphenylphosphoniumcyclopentadienylide), (CpPPh3)HgCl2, and MoPC (PC = phthalocyanine) were examined using cyclic voltammetry (CV). The experimentation was carried out in a temperature controlled environment. With the exception of the mercury and molybdenum complexes, the solvent system consisted of 15 milliliter mixture of acetonitrile and water. Due to the solubility problems of the mercury bromide complex, …
An Examination Of Cognitive Complexity & Its Relationship With Urban-Rural Locality, Charla Tichenor
An Examination Of Cognitive Complexity & Its Relationship With Urban-Rural Locality, Charla Tichenor
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
This study examined the relationship of cognitive complexity with urban-rural locality, communication apprehension, and world view. Emphasis was placed upon the population variable of urban-rural locality as it related to cognitive complexity; however, the variables of communication apprehension and world view were also examined in an attempt to discover an interrelationship among the variables. Using the Crockett Role Category Questionnaire, the short version of McCroskey's Personal Report of Communication Apprehension, a world view scale as developed by Dodd and Garmon, and selected demographic and group membership items, the researcher tested one hundred fifteen undergraduate college students. Data analyses included analyses …

A Study Of Seasonal Occurences & Movement Patterns Of Fishes In Barren River, William Kruskamp
A Study Of Seasonal Occurences & Movement Patterns Of Fishes In Barren River, William Kruskamp
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
The ichthyofauna of the Barren River tailwater was studied from October 1979 to August 1980 to determine seasonal occurrences and movement patterns in relation to discharges from Barren River Lake. Thirteen families and 38 species were represented in the 15,408 fish captured. The season in which the greatest number of fish was captured was winter (7,731) with the highest monthly total occurring in February (5,159). These large totals resulted mostly from the presence of small gizzard shad. The greatest number of fish per kilometer of river sampled occurred in spring just below the dam at River Kilometer 127. Of the …
The Effects Of Denervation On Caudal Fin Regeneration In The Goldfish, Carassius Auratus (Linnaeus), Janet Rowlett
The Effects Of Denervation On Caudal Fin Regeneration In The Goldfish, Carassius Auratus (Linnaeus), Janet Rowlett
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
Goldfish of the wild-strain variety, Carassius auratus, were used in the study of caudal fin regeneration. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of denervation on caudal fin regeneration.
In the experimental groups, it was evident that denervation did not prevent regeneration, although it was significantly reduced. Statistical analysis using the Duncan's Multiple Range Test showed a highly significant difference (0.01 % level) in the mean percentage of regeneration between the denerved group and the other three groups.
Caudal fins having proximal amputations regenerated at a faster rate than those having distal amputations, producing a higher …

Cincinnati Theater 1918-1919: A Season Of Burlesque, Vaudeville & Legitimate Entertainment, Paul Thomas
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
The legitimate theater, vaudeville, and burlesque presentations that composed the 1918-1919 theatrical season in Cincinnati, Ohio, were investigated. In order to understand the business practices that brought performers and productions to the Queen City, a study of the various entertainment circuits and the power brokers who controlled them was included. Cincinnati and its climate for professional entertainment in 1918-1919 also warranted attention. Such items as the theaters that housed the entertainment, the transportation systems that brought patrons to the entertainment, and the competition that rivaled the entertainment were probed so hat the foundations of the 1918-1919 season might he understood. …
The Effects Of Controlled Harvest On Some Biological Characteristics Of Smallmouth Buffalo In Rough River Lake, Kentucky, Dennis Webb
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
In Rough River Lake, Kentucky, effects of controlled harvest of some biological characteristics of smallmouth buffalo were investigated from December 1979 through July 1980. Spawning activity was monitored from 28 March through 24 July with buffalo larvae occurring for one week. A successful spawn was precluded by non-optimum water levels or other conditions operating in the lake. Commercial harvest was monitored from December 1979 through March 1980, and age and growth features were determined from 783 smallmouth buffalo representing a portion of the 3955 buffalo removed from Rough River Lake in 1979-80. A population estimate of the Rough River Lake …
A Comparison Of Perceived Employee Satisfaction With Downward Communication Within Department Stores In Cities Of Varying Size, Karen Attig
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
Three retail department stores of varying size were compared to determine if store size affected employee attitudes toward downward communication. Chi-square and multivariate analyses were used to determine results based on a questionnaire administered to employees within three department stores. Employees within the small department store were found to be less satisfied with the communication received from their store manager than were employees in the medium size and large department stores. Employees within the large department store were found to be more satisfied with downward communication than subjects from other stores.

The Anodic Stripping Voltammetric Analysis Of Chromium Using The Hanging Mercury Drop Electrode, John Fugate
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
The Hanging Mercury Drop Electrode (HMDE) is used in the anodic stripping analysis of ppm concentrations of chromium. The effects of such parameters as ionic strength, polymeric film formation, and the use of the chromate-sodium acetate standard are interpreted in terms of the electro-chemical and physical properties of chromium in the +3 and +6 oxidation states.
Thomas Jefferson And The West, Denise Baker
Thomas Jefferson And The West, Denise Baker
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
From his childhood on the fringe of the Virginia frontier until his years of retirement at Monticello, Thomas Jefferson displayed a special interest in the vast expanse of land stretching westward. The land provided the ideal place for the expansion of Jefferson’s dream of an American empire for liberty. He viewed the continent as the home of an agrarian nation living under the principles of democracy.
Chapter one is introductory in nature, linking Jefferson’s ideals to his interest in the West. Chapter two concentrates on his early contributions to the West. Emphasis is placed on land speculation, the western land …

Mutual benefit can accrue from the awareness held by a local community concerning the international student community within its geographical area. This survey attempted to develop an instrument which could assess the level of awareness of the Bowling Green community regarding the international students attending Western Kentucky University. A thirty-one item, short answer survey was administered by the interview method to a twenty-five member sample of persons randomly selected from the list of civic organizations published by the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce.
