The Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) is a newly developed test that assesses the combat readiness of U.S. Army soldiers. Maximal aerobic capacity (VO2max) characteristics vary between soldiers and have the ability to affect performance outcomes. The purpose of this cross-sectional study is to determine if VO2max can predict performance outcomes of the ACFT in ROTC cadets. Methods: ROTC cadets (44 males, 15 females; aged 21.06 ± 3.6 years) completed the 6-event ACFT (3-repetition maximum trap-bar deadlift [MDL], standing power toss [SPT], hand-release pushups [HRPU], sprint-drag-carry shuttle run [SDC], plank [PLK], and 2-mile run [2MR]). To measure force generated by rugby union players during the scrum, we instrumented a scrum machine using S-type load cells for voltage force data collection. Data collection may take place in a variety of settings with varying access to primary power. The voltage outputs from electronic equipment may change when using battery versus AC power. Purpose: To compare the load-voltage relationship in S-type load cells between wall outlet AC power and a lithium ion battery pack and inverter. Some individuals diagnosed with Long Haul COVID (lCOVID) have concurrently reported cognitive issues such as confusion, forgetfulness, decreased attention time, and difficulty focusing. This series of symptoms is termed brain fog. PURPOSE: Patients with reports of brain fog may benefit from the utilization of protocols associated with concussion rehabilitation to reduce the effects of confusion, frustration, and difficulty focusing on exercise instructions. Treadmill running is a convenient option for runners looking to avoid adverse environmental conditions or that prefer a gym setting. Outdoor running includes air resistance, whereas treadmill running typically does not. Very little research has been focused on the influence of air resistance and its role on kinetic factors during running. Alternate day modified fasting is an intermittent fasting approach that provides an effective strategy for weight loss. While research has shown alternate day modified fasting to be an affective weight loss strategy, less is known about its impact on sleep quality. Satellite cells are known to be essential in the regenerative capabilities of skeletal muscle, and current studies suggest that estrogen plays a crucial role in satellite cell proliferation following muscle damage. In the research lab and clinical settings, expensive ultrasound machines are used to measure arterial occlusion pressure (AOP) prior to the use of blood flow restriction during exercise. Alternatively, inexpensive hand-held Doppler ultrasound devices may be used to measure AOP in various applications and settings. Our laboratory recently found wrist-worn wearable technology devices to be valid for measuring average heart rate (HR), but not valid for estimated energy expenditure (EE) compared to criterion devices, during steady state aerobic training (walking, running, biking). In 2020 the U.S. Army replaced their older physical fitness test with the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) to replicate modern battlefield demands. One component of the test, the leg-tuck (LTK) was found to disproportionately fail female soldiers. The use of wearable technology to track physical activity is popular among fitness enthusiasts and the general public. There are many brands that offer a variety of devices. One popular brand is Garmin. The validity of Garmin’s wrist-worn devices in measuring step counts in various settings, such as walking up and down a staircase, is unclear. Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) is a rare neurodevelopmental genetic disorder that can lead to obesity. Children with PWS exhibit poor motor skills and poor postural control. Postural control is defined as the ability to regulate sensory information to maintain a controlled, upright posture. Underdeveloped vestibular and proprioceptive systems, shown in PWS, may interfere with maintaining posture and performing fundamental skills that require effective sensorimotor integration. Chronic ethanol consumption contributes to the global prevalence’s of cardiovascular disease by mechanisms involving an inflammatory response and consequent lipid peroxidation. Cytochrome p450 is a part of the microsomal ethanol oxidizing system (MEOS) and can utilize iron complexes and the reductant NADPH to catalyze the breakdown of acute/chronic ethanol consumption. An estimated 20 million people participate in trail running with this number expected grow at a rate of 15% annually. Wearable technology devices have become more relied upon to track running data such as distance, cadence, elevation gain, etc. The consistency between these devices is not well-established.
