Predicting Music Enjoyment In Cochlear Implant Users, Rose Bradley
Predicting Music Enjoyment In Cochlear Implant Users, Rose Bradley
Independent Studies and Capstones
Most cochlear implant (CI) users perceive music poorly. Little is known, however, about the musical enjoyment received by CI users. The author examined possible relationships between musical enjoyment and music perception tasks through the use of 1) multiple musical tests, and 2) two groups of listeners: normal-hearing (NH) listeners with a CI-simulation and actual CI users. The two groups’ performances are compared to determine whether NH participants listening to music via CI-simulation software are a good model for actual CI users for perceiving music.
Role Of Alpha Synuclein In Noise Induced Hearing Loss, Melissa Mooney
Role Of Alpha Synuclein In Noise Induced Hearing Loss, Melissa Mooney
Independent Studies and Capstones
The recent discovery of the contribution of alpha synuclein in the auditory system prompted further investigation of its functional role. Auditory brainstem response (ABR) and gap detection testing were completed on wild-type and transgenic M83 mice to assess the role of alpha synuclein in noise-induced hearing loss and central auditory function.
Marginal Cell Density In Young And Old Cba/J And Cba/Caj Mice, Ashley Dahl
Marginal Cell Density In Young And Old Cba/J And Cba/Caj Mice, Ashley Dahl
Independent Studies and Capstones
The goal of the present study was to compare aging characteristics of the cochlear lateral wall in inbred mouse strains (CBA/J and CBA/CaJ) having very different endocochlear potential (EP)-versus-age profiles to see which anatomic differences might predict their EP differences.
Immunohistochemistry Of Synergistic Effects Of Kanamycin And Furosemide In The Murine Model, Katherine Gorton
Immunohistochemistry Of Synergistic Effects Of Kanamycin And Furosemide In The Murine Model, Katherine Gorton
Independent Studies and Capstones
Adult CBA/CaJ mice were injected with large single dose of both kanamycin and furosemide in order to study hair cell lesion and macrophage recruitment within the cochlea.
Efficacy Of 1000 Hz Tympanometry In Infants Birth To 4 Months Of Age: A Follow Up Study, Jamie Glater
Efficacy Of 1000 Hz Tympanometry In Infants Birth To 4 Months Of Age: A Follow Up Study, Jamie Glater
Independent Studies and Capstones
Interpretation of 1000 Hz tympanometry is not standardized. Several compensated and uncompensated measures were analyzed and compared to otologic findings. Results of auditory brainstem testing and otoacoustic emissions were considered to better obtain middle ear status. Findings were inconclusive due to small sample size.

The Mre11-Rad50-Nbs1 (MRN) complex functions in the repair of DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) by homologous recombination (HR) at postreplicative stages of the cell cycle. During HR, the MRN complex functions directly in the repair of DNA DSBs and in the initiation of DSB responses through activation of the ataxia telangiectasia-mutated (ATM) serine-threonine kinase. Whether MRN functions in DNA damage responses before DNA replication in G0/G1 phase cells has been less clear. In developing G1-phase lymphocytes, DNA DSBs are generated by the Rag endonuclease and repaired during the assembly of antigen receptor genes by the process of V(D)J recombination. Mice and …
