The Trilogy Of Science: Filling The Knowledge Management Gap With Knowledge Science And Theory, Anthony Shawn Bates
The Trilogy Of Science: Filling The Knowledge Management Gap With Knowledge Science And Theory, Anthony Shawn Bates
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The international knowledge management field has different ways of investigating, developing, believing, and studying knowledge management. Knowledge management (KM) is distinguished deductively by know-how, and its intangible nature establishes different approaches to KM concepts, practices, and developments. Exploratory research and theoretical principles have formed functional intelligences from 1896 to 2013, leading to a knowledge management knowledge science (KMKS) concept that derived a grounded theory of knowledge activity (KAT). This study addressed the impact of knowledge production problems on KM practice. The purpose of this qualitative meta-analysis study was to fit KM practice within the framework of knowledge science (KS) study. …

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The Institute of Medicine reported in 2016 that medical errors are the 3rd leading cause of death in the United States. In the primary care setting, frequency and severity are unknown. Medical error research is limited related to evaluation of interventions conducted by medical professional liability (MPL) companies of risk mitigation strategies. The purpose of this program evaluation was to determine the impact of multifaceted patient safety and risk mitigation educational interventions conducted in primary care settings on patient safety, reporting, and liability. The program evaluation employed a retrospective secondary analysis of actuarial data from a MPL carrier's educational interventions …
Alleviating Discharge Confusion For Older Patients Using The Teach-Back Method, Tracey Marie Haire
Alleviating Discharge Confusion For Older Patients Using The Teach-Back Method, Tracey Marie Haire
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Discharge instructions and medication directions can be overwhelming for older adults, which can lead to potential medication errors, noncompliance, readmissions, and patient safety concerns. At a specialty lung clinic, the goal is to improve patient safety and to decrease the chance of errors by standardizing the discharge process via a Teach-Back education policy and protocol. Without consistency, there is a potential for mistakes and misunderstandings. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) considers the Teach-Back discharge method as best practice and should be considered universal practice among health care workers. Using the …

A Comparison Between Administrative Leadership In Higher Education And Change-Oriented Leadership In Banks, Glenn King Jr
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Organizational environments continually change. Organizations that do not meet the demands for change do not survive. The research questions dealt with differences in the uncertainty of internal operations and the external environment of banks versus universities, and the leadership style most …
Effects Of Change Valence And Informational Assessments On Organizational Readiness For Change, James Edward Phillips
Effects Of Change Valence And Informational Assessments On Organizational Readiness For Change, James Edward Phillips
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Nearly two-thirds of organizational change initiatives are unsuccessful due to a lack of high levels of change readiness prior to implementation of the change. A review of the literature supported the importance of establishing organizational readiness for change (ORC), but a gap remained in the empirical data and extant literature about whether presumed antecedents identified in ORC theory contribute to increased levels of ORC. The purpose of this study was to gather empirical data to address this question of whether change valence and informational assessment scores are associated with increased levels of organizational readiness for implementing change. The research design …

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Employee turnover affects retail organizations in the form of lower productivity, decreased profitability, and reduced sustainability. In 2014, organizations lost over $11 billion in tangible and intangible assets as the result of employee turnover. High employee turnover rates have an adverse effect on productivity, which lead to unsustainable business practices. The number of retail employees who quit their jobs each month increased from 432,000 in December 2016 to 464,000 in January 2017, which indicates that some managers lack strategies to reduce employee turnover. Using the transformational leadership theory, the purpose of this single case study was to explore effective strategies …
