Clinical Practice Guideline For Delirium Screening, Raji George Mar 2025

Clinical Practice Guideline For Delirium Screening, Raji George

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Summary This doctoral project developed a clinical practice guideline (CPG) to address the critical health issue of early identification of delirium among hospitalized high-risk patients. Hospital delirium is associated with prolonged hospital stay, increased nursing home or rehab use after hospitalization, and higher mortality. Evidence shows that systematic screening improves delirium identification among hospitalized high-risk adults. However, there was no clinical practice guideline for delirium screening at the project facility for high-risk, non-intensive care unit patients. Therefore, the practice-focused question for the project was, “Does the evidence support the development of a CPG for delirium screening in high-risk hospitalized patients …

This inquiry utilized a hermeneutic phenomenological qualitative methodology and the race-based traumatic stress inquiry model as a conceptual framework to explore the nature …

Guided by the social ecological model, this generic qualitative research explored teachers’ perspectives of the risk factors, protective factors, and intervention strategies for school shootings. Data were collected through semistructured interviews with 10 secondary education teachers from various states in the United States. The collected data were then thematically …

Leadership Strategies For Navigating The Integration Of Physical And Behavioral Healthcare, Seán David Mclawhorn

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

The separation of physical and behavioral healthcare and a dominant medical model have left a void in practice and research, especially pertaining to the leadership strategies necessary to integrate the two forms of care in college campus healthcare clinics. This is especially important given the rise of mental health concerns on and off college campuses. Without integration, there are missed opportunities for care delivery, in general, and a missed opportunity for the provision of care to individuals who historically have not accessed physical and behavioral healthcare at equivalent rates as other populations. The subject of care integration is addressed in …

Nepotism In Employee Recruitment And Student Admissions In Nigeria’S Tertiary Education System, Dianabasi Ukpong

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Corruption in Nigeria’s educational sector, especially the tertiary sector, exists as a gap in the literature between policy formulation and implementation. Government agencies structure educational policies for their personal goals rather than enacting a policy framework promoting broad national interest. Current literature reveals that policies on recruitment and admissions in the tertiary education system are personality-oriented and allow tribalism, nepotism, favoritism, and even discrimination. This general qualitative study used the narrative policy framework to examine nepotistic practices in recruitment and admissions in Nigeria’s tertiary education sector. A health literacy conceptualization and self-efficacy theory underpinned further examination of these variables in this study. A survey was administered to a sample of 105 university graduates in Georgia enrolled in one of five bachelor’s degree disciplines: education, humanities, …

Educating Substance Use Treatment Nurses On Patient Pain Assessment And Management, Emmanuel Okwuchukwu Oguno Mar 2025

Educating Substance Use Treatment Nurses On Patient Pain Assessment And Management, Emmanuel Okwuchukwu Oguno

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

The inconsistent application of evidence-based pain assessment strategies continues to be a significant challenge in nursing practice. Due to gaps in nurses’ knowledge and the variability in implementing best practices, patients with substance use disorders (SUDs) often experience inadequate pain management. Addressing these challenges is vital because nurses’ pain assessment and management knowledge can enhance patient pain outcomes. I conducted this project to strengthen the knowledge of nursing staff in pain assessment and management through an evidence-based educational intervention for nurses working with patients with SUD.
