Vcu Today (1980-12-03)
VCU Today, 1972-1988
VCU Today, the University’s first official administrative organ, began as a somewhat irregular monthly publication but moved to a bi-weekly newspaper format in the 1980s. The newspaper changed its name to VCU Voice in 1988 and ten years later it appeared under the title UniverCity News. As it neared the end of its run as a physical newspaper, the publication became simply VCU News. These four publications were essentially the same periodical published under different titles by the Office of University Relations. VCU News appeared online for the first time in 2002.

[Review Of] Barbara Myerhoff. Number Our Days, Michele Zak
[Review Of] Barbara Myerhoff. Number Our Days, Michele Zak
Explorations in Ethnic Studies
Number Our Days had its genesis in a research project on ethnicity and again at the University of Southern California where author Barbara Myerhoff is chairman of the department of anthropology. Her study of a group of elderly Jews living on and around the beach in Venice, California and who were members of the Aliyah Senior Citizens' Center, was undertaken reluctantly after Professor Myerhoff encountered resistance among the elderly Chicanos she had intended to study. The study absorbed four years of her life and ended in this record of surpassing warmth and intelligence of the past and present of a …

Autonomic Responses Of Normals And Depressives To Stress Inducing Stimuli, Dennis Donat
Theses and Dissertations
A group of depressed (N=10) and a group of normal (N=10) were presented a series of stressor stimuli to assess several parameters of their physiological responses to these stimuli. The results indicated that the groups did not differ in their relative tendency to show maximal response specificity (consistently responding to stress with a maximum response in the same channel) or pattern stereotypy (the tendency to respond consistently in all physiological channels relative to each other). A multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA), of the levels of the physiological channels under conditions of rest, anticipation, and stress revealed a significant group effect. …

Joint Faculty Appointments: An Administrative Dilemma In Chicano Studies, Eugene E. Garcia
Explorations in Ethnic Studies
A comprehensive proposal for an academic program in Chicano Studies for the University of California, Santa Barbara, was submitted to the Executive Committee of the College of Letters and Science on April A, 1969. The program evolved from an extensive investigation of the assessed needs of the local Chicano community, the role of the University toward that community, and the general responsibility of the University to the student community with respect to educational and research endeavors related to the Chicano.

Activities Of Nurse Practitioners As Identified By Medical Directors Of University Student Health Services, Candace Beaman Moore, Miriam Lee Gottlieb
Theses and Dissertations
University health services play a very important role in the general health, performance, and well-being of the students, the university itself, and the community. As stated by the American College Health Association, the goal of a university health service is to "promote and maintain those conditions which will permit and encourage each individual to realize optimum physical, emotional, intellectual, and social well-being."
University students have special health care needs such as drug and alcohol abuses, emotional problems, and gynecological, sexual, and contraceptive problems. It is the goal of the health professionals involved with students to meet those needs. Because of …
