Assessments Of An Exogenous Proteolytic Enzyme In Beef Steer Diets To Improve Growth Performance And Ruminal Fermentation, Juan Manuel Vera May 2012

Assessments Of An Exogenous Proteolytic Enzyme In Beef Steer Diets To Improve Growth Performance And Ruminal Fermentation, Juan Manuel Vera

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

A series of experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of adding an exogenous proteolytic enzyme (EPE) on growth performance and ruminal fermentation characteristics of beef steers fed growing and finishing diets containing 30% dried distillers grains with solubles (DDGS).

In the first experiment, 48 beef steers were divided into two treatments: DDGS diets with and without EPE. Dry matter intake (DMI) was increased (P = 0.02) by the addition of EPE, but neutral detergent fiber (NDF) digestibility was decreased on the growing phase. For the finishing phase, average daily gain ( …

Experience Design, Alexandra Lee Davis

Undergraduate Honors Capstone Projects

This undergraduate research project aims to explore the question: “What is Experience Design(XD)?” and “How can Experience Design be executed in a magazine, both print and online versions?” My methods included extensive research on the history of XD, ethnography of typical magazine users, the study of magazine layout and design principles (both in print and online form) and finally, the execution of an XD-minded print and online digital-comp version of a fashion/lifestyle magazine. I used the Adobe Creative Suite to compile my research into tangible proof of the theory of XD in action. My results proved to be difficult to …

Participative, Blended And Networked Learning: Meeting Educational Needs In Australia’S Rangelands, John A. Taylor, Patricia M. Andrews

Conference on University Education in Natural Resources

This paper reports on the key elements and outcomes of a national educational initiative designed to meet identified learner preferences and stakeholder expectations of the knowledge and skills needed by ranchers, extension officers, Landcare and Natural Resource Management facilitators/advisors for future success in Australia’s rangelands. At the outset, research into the market for learning in rural and remote Australia was conducted. This led to the recognition that the existing courses available to this group did not meet the learning requirements of people living and working in the Rangelands in relation to current and emerging economic, environmental and social issues. This …
