Autonomic Self-Control Of Clinical Relaxation As A Function Of Imagery, Dean G. Allen
Autonomic Self-Control Of Clinical Relaxation As A Function Of Imagery, Dean G. Allen
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
The purpose of this dissertation was to test the significance of objectively measured imagery ability on the learning of self-controlled relaxation of autonomic nervous system activity. Imagery is discussed in terms of its interaction with Autogenic vs. Jacobsonian methods of training clinical relaxation.
Thirty-six female subjects from a college population, representing extreme highs and lows on "spatial ability" tests were given a series of three six-session sequences of Baseline, Treatment 1, and Treatment 2, which contained silent relaxation as a control, plus Jacobsonian and Autogenic relaxation. High and low spatial ability subjects were divided into split groups (A & B) …
The California Psychological Inventory And Intrinsic-Extrinsic Religious Motivation, Ken Small
The California Psychological Inventory And Intrinsic-Extrinsic Religious Motivation, Ken Small
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
The focus of the study was to investigate the nature of the apparent inconsistency reported in the literature on the relationship between personality variables and indices of religiosity. The literature indicates that indices of religiosity have been associated with labels both of "desirable" and "undesirable" personality traits to varying degrees, and no definitive conclusions have been thus far reached. The study suggested that the inconsistent evidence has been a result of a narrow definition of personality functioning and a broad definition of religiosity that has not allowed an adequate test of the relationship between personality and religiosity. The study developed …

Møller-Plesset Treatment Of Electron Correlation In (Hohoh)-, M. M. Szczesniak, Steve Scheiner
Møller-Plesset Treatment Of Electron Correlation In (Hohoh)-, M. M. Szczesniak, Steve Scheiner
Chemistry and Biochemistry Faculty Publications
The effects of electron correlation on the calculated properties of the (HOHOH)− anion are studied using Møller–Plesset (MP) perturbation theory. With this technique, inclusion of corrections up to third order are shown to provide results quite similar to those obtained with an extensive CI approach when equivalent basis sets are used. Barriers to proton transfer between the two oxygen atoms at a fixed R(OO) distance are computed with a number of basis sets ranging from split‐valence 4–31G to triple‐valence with polarization functions on all atoms, 6–311G∗∗. Each successive enlargement of the basis set leads to a greater barrier. …
Electron Energy Loss Microspectroscopy And The Characterization Of Solids, Richard Leapman
Electron Energy Loss Microspectroscopy And The Characterization Of Solids, Richard Leapman
Scanning Electron Microscopy
The inelastic scattering of fast electrons provides a detailed means of characterizing the chemical composition and electronic properties of thin samples in an electron microscope. Collective and single-electron excitations occuring in the low energy region of the spectrum can be described in terms of the generalized dielectric formulation. Important information is contained in this part of the spectrum but some prior detailed knowledge of the sample is usually required for proper interpretation. The core excitations allow microanalytical information to be obtained and quantitative procedures are now quite well developed at least for K and L edges. Sample thickness is one …

Impacts Of Western Coal, Oil Shale, And Tar Sands Development On Aquatic Environmental Quality: A Technical Information Matrix; Volume 1 Introduction And Instructions, Jay J. Messer, Charles I. Liff, Kurt Gernerd, Frederick J. Post
Reports
Introduction: The Upper Colorado River Basin contains vast deposits of coal, oil shale, and tar sands, which could undergo extensive development should oil prices rise or an international situation restrict oil imports. Naturally, the prospect of development of these alternative fossil fuels resources has led to concern over how extraction and conversion activities will impact environmental quality. A thorough understanding of the nature and magnitude of the resulting envionemental impacts is a necessary prerequisite, if the costs and risks of such activites are to be weighed against the economic benefits. When we set out to evaluated these costs and risks, …

Reports
Executive Summary: Summary: Multivariate statistical techniques were used to define a method for establishing a water quality index (WQI) for use in protecting the stream environment in a high mountain watershed. The purpose of the WQI was to aggregate water quality parameters in such a way that the effects of low level increments in mining, grazing, logging and other activities could be related to a change in the value of a single entity, aquatic environmental aquality, in a linear programming (LP) management model. Several data aggregation methods were explored, using water quality data collected over 5 years (1975-1979) by the …
