Final Environmental Impact Statement: Salmon River Corridor, U.S. Forest Service
Final Environmental Impact Statements (ID)
Documents the analysis conducted for the Salmon River Corridor. This corridor involves National Forest System lands within the Sawtooth National Forest. The analysis of the current condition of the Salmon River Corridor has found that existing conditions within the Corridor do not comply with the direction, standards and guidelines of the Sawtooth National Forest Land and Resource Management Plan or the intent of PL92-400 which established the Sawtooth National Recreation Area; The proposed action of this FEIS is to bring management of this corridor into compliance with the FLRMP.
Fourmile Timber Sale Final Environmental Impact Statement, United States Forest Service
Fourmile Timber Sale Final Environmental Impact Statement, United States Forest Service
Final Environmental Impact Statements (ID)
This Final Environmental Impact Statement documents the analysis of four alternatives, including a "no action" alternative, that were developed for the proposed Fourmile timber sale. The sale area is on the New Meadows Ranger District of the Payette National Forest. The alternatives respond differently to the major issues and resources that were identified for this project. The purpose of the project is to improve the silvicultural conditions of timber stands in the area. Harvest emphasis to accomplish this would include removing dead, dying, and high-risk trees to improve the long term health and vigor of timber stands.

Shirley Mountain Planning Review Travel Management Environmental Assessment, United States Department Of The Interior, Bureau Of Land Management
Environmental Assessments (WY)
The purpose of conducting the planning review is to analyze and weigh the benefits/consequences of changing the Off Road Vehicle (ORV) designation for the Shirley Mountain Planning Review Area from "limited to all existing roads and trails" to "limited to designated roads and trails only." Recommendations to reduce road density in the planning review area were made in the Shirley Mountain Habitat Management Plan, written in 1985 and also in the Wyoming Game and Fish (WGFD) Shirley Mountain Habitat Analysis, written in 1994. The BLM, Wyoming Game and Fish Department, and the private land owners on Shirley Mountain formed a …

The Cave Gulch-Bullfrog-Waltman operators include Barrett Resources Corporation, Chevron USA Production Company, Marathon Oil Company, Prima Oil and Gas Company, and other oil and gas companies (collectively referred to as the Operators).
Political, Economic And Social Dominance Of Major Cities In East Asia During The Twentieth Century, Michael B. Toney, Chalon Keller
Political, Economic And Social Dominance Of Major Cities In East Asia During The Twentieth Century, Michael B. Toney, Chalon Keller
Sociology, Social Work and Anthropology Faculty Publications
One of the greatest shift in human societies has been the change from dispersed settlement patterns toward a complex urban pattern. Prior to the industrialization there were only a few urban places scattered throughout the world and none could compare with numerous cities of today with respect to size and complexity. In recent decades the growth of cities in Asia has been particularly remarkable as there has been an increase in the number of medium sized cities and the growth of a number of mega cities. This urbanization of the worlds population has corresponded with other fundamental changes in human …

Urban Pathology, Brian L. Pitcher
Sociology, Social Work and Anthropology Faculty Publications
Urban theorists have long debated to what extend and how the social problems of the city have been brought about or exaggerated in some consistent way by the urban environments in which they occur. This presentation reviews theories of urbanism, and the features of cities which contribute to the augmentation and control of various types of social pathology. Special emphasis is given to some types and patterns of urban unrest, and the structural characteristics associated with deleterious urban environments. Also included is perspective on the contested nature of social relations, the construction of perceptions of social pathology, and some overall …

Patty Session's 1847 Mormon Trail diary has been widely quoted and excerpted, but her complete diaries chronicling the first decades of Mormon settlement at Salt Lake City have never before been published. They provide a detailed record of early Mormon community life from Illinois to Utah through the eyes of Mormondom's most famous midwife. They also recount her important role in women's social networks and her contributions to community health and Utah's economy, to pioneer education and horticulture. Patty Sessions assisted at the births of humdreds of early Mormons and first-generation Utahns, meticulously recording the events. Shed had an active …

Environmental Assessment For Coal Planning Decisions In The Carbon Basin Area Of The Great Divide Resource Area, United States Department Of The Interior Bureau Of Land Management
Environmental Assessment For Coal Planning Decisions In The Carbon Basin Area Of The Great Divide Resource Area, United States Department Of The Interior Bureau Of Land Management
Environmental Assessments (WY)
In 1982, a federal coal lease was issued for approximately 60% of the federal coal lands located in the Carbon Basin. Because this lease was still in effect at the time the current BLM land use plan (the Great Divide Resource Area Resource Management Plan-RMP-1990) covering the Carbon Basin area was prepared, it was exempt from the coal screening/planning requirements. However, development of this lease was never pursued and the lease expired in 1992. Also at the time the Great Divide RMP was prepared, there was no other interest expressed by industry in obtaining federal coal leases in the area. …
Alloy Oxidation And Porcelain Fused To Alloy Interaction In Noble Alloy Systems, M. S. Bapna, H. J. Mueller
Alloy Oxidation And Porcelain Fused To Alloy Interaction In Noble Alloy Systems, M. S. Bapna, H. J. Mueller
Cells and Materials
The oxidation and porcelain fusion characteristics of noble alloys containing a variety of minor oxidizable elements, including Cu, Sn, In, Ga, Mn, and Fe were investigated. Four porcelain alloys systems: a Pd-base alloy (Naturelle}, two Pd-Ag-based alloys (Jelstar and Acclaim}, and a high Au-alloy (SMG-3) were examined by scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy after being heat treated and after being fused with porcelain. Internal oxidation of minor alloying elements occurred within several micrometers from the surface in all four alloys. Surface nodules as detected by other investigators for a Pd-Ag alloy were also detected in this study. Evidence …

Milk samples were collected from 108,312 dairy cows during 1601 farm visits made between January 1991 and June 1995. The herd visits were made by personnel from the Central Laboratory of the Quality Milk Promotion Services at Cornell University (Ithaca, NY) to farms located in central New York and northern Pennsylvania. Dairy Herd Improvement Association records were available for 32,978 cows in 327 herds. Intramammary infections, as defined by positive milk cultures, were present in 48.5% of all cows and in 36.3% of cows in herds enrolled in the Dairy Herd Improvement Association. Over 75% of the intramammary infections were …
