There are very few minority teachers in pk-12 schools today even though research indicates that minority teachers are beneficial in classrooms. Teacher education programs are working to bring more teachers of color into the field, but few minority recruitment and retention programs have been evaluated. Most of these evaluations have been qualitative studies of the students in the programs, examining current and recommended practices to recruit and retain minority students into teacher education programs. Challenging behaviors at school inte1fere with a student's ability to effectively learn. In these situations behavioral assessments are frequently conducted and current practice adamantly supports the use of functional behavioral assessments (FBA) in addressing challenging behaviors among students. This study examines the assessment methods and personnel most frequently included in the FBA process in a Midwestern regional education agency through the review of completed assessments in a one year period. Channing Connell, soprano, presented a graduate voice recital on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 8:00 PM in Davis Hall of the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center at the University of Northern Iowa. The recital was performed in collaboration with pianists Korey Barrett and Polina Khatsko and presented in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Master of Music in Vocal Performance. The recital featured Cinq poemes de Baudelaire by Claude Debussy (1862-1918), select works from the Jtalienisches Liederbuch by Hugo Wolf (1860-1903) and selections by Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873- 1943), each of which is briefly summarized in the body of this abstract.

In 1944 Max Gaines, a pioneering figure in the development of comic books, decided to start his own publishing company, Educational Comics (EC), that focused on wholesome story lines and historical events in Biblical and American History. After his death in 1947, his son William took over the business, changed the company's name to Entertaining Comics (EC), and focused on crime and horror stories. William began publishing comics books such as Shock SuspenStories, and Weird Fantasy that alarmed parents, and political leaders due to depictions of violence and criticisms of America's lack of social justice. This study presents a new approach in which a wind tunnel apparatus is used to identify the efficiency of power output by a wind turbine with a 400W rating. Moreover, the study addresses a significant issue concerning the turbulence formed by a natural wind which can be eliminated or reduced with the use of the proposed wind tunnel. Wind power characteristics that indicate power output versus wind velocity are obtained by performing a number of case studies. This research project sought to discover the potential role participating in a tuition reciprocity program had on affecting a state's ability to stem the impact of brain drain. In order to do this, alumni records were analyzed from the University of Northern Iowa (UNI), Minnesota State University-Mankato (MSU), and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (UWEC). They were chosen because these schools serve as regional institutions, and realistically would be expected to compete for the same prospective students. On Tuesday, March 22, 2011, Isaac Droscha, baritone, presented a recital in partial fulfillment of the Master of Music degree. The recital totaled approximately fifty-five minutes in length. The first half featured Gustav Mahler's Kindertotenlieder (1904), containing five songs to poetry of Friedrich Rückert. Following a brief intermission, the recital continued with two song sets; the first set contained five songs by Sergei Rachmaninoff from Ops. 4, 14, and 26; the second set was George Butterworth's Bredon Hill and Other Songs, containing five songs (1912). After decades of court cases, decided in favor of evolution being taught, legal decisions where the incorporation of teaching creationist ideas have been found unconstitutional, and recent strategies and attempts that would have teachers give "equal time" to creation-science ideas; there remains a disparity among Iowa's high school biology teachers when teaching evolutionary concepts in the classroom. Faculty Work

Magnetic measurements have been carried out on the Mn-intercalated transition-metal dichalcogenide Mn_0.25Ti_1+yS₂. The material, which contained a concentration y≈0.1 of excess intercalated Ti, exhibited paramagnetic behavior at high temperatures with an effective moment per Mn ion of µ_eff=6.07 ± 0.23 µ_B, which shows that the system comprises localized Mn²⁺ moments. A Curie-Weiss temperature Θ_CW=-26 ± 1 K indicated that antiferromagnetic interactions were dominant. Deviation from Curie-Weiss behavior below 100 K signaled the formation of antiferromagnetically correlated clusters. Bifurcation of the zero-fieldcooled and field-cooled magnetizations below 20 K …

The system generally includes a display screen on which is defined a virtual surface (such as a truck door) that is intended to be virtually painted or coated by the user. Alternatively, the system includes a head-mounted display unit that displays a virtual spray painting environment in which the virtual surface is defined.
