How Economic Distribution Impacts Human Rights On An International Level: A Case Study In Africa And The Balkans, Lindsey G. Ingraham

Honors Program Theses

Data from Reporters Without Borders and the World Bank was used in this small case study to assess correlations between economic dispersion, freedom of the press, and measures of gender equality in eight countries. These countries were selected from two regions, with four from both Africa and the Balkans to total eight: Angola, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Romania, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Slovenia, and Zimbabwe. The regions were selected to account for any regional trends affecting the data. These countries were selected based on their Gini Coefficients with the hopes of identifying correlations between economic distribution and their measures of human rights. …

Supreme Court confirmation politics has reached a high-water mark between the nominations for Elena Kagan in 2010 and Neil Gorsuch in 2017. The court since 2010 is now ideologically divided along party lines for the first time in its history thanks to Republican presidents nominating more ideological justices, beginning in the 1980’s, in response to a more activist Warren court. These developments have taken shape in tandem with increased coverage of the hearings through television and various forms of media. “Assessing Policy Implementation In The Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs: A CaseBy-Case County Analysis” is a research paper dedicated to determining relative efficiency of all 99 counties in Iowa in their mission to serve Veterans in the state through assessing multiple independent variables of County Veteran Service Officers (CVSOs) and their offices, and their respective impact on the dependent variable, their claims density percentages. Claims density percentages are determined by taking each individual county’s reported claims filed, per the “Running Awards by Beneficiaries by County” report produced by the Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs (IDVA), and dividing that by the …

This supplement was designed to help students build a strong foundation in aural training and sight singing by progressing through the core rhythmic and melodic patterns that are found in music. Through the progression of content, students will build skills in pattern recognition and an understanding of how music functions. Rhythms for each section include single and two-part examples as well as pitched examples for use in aural training. Melodies for each section include single line melodies, canons, duets, and chorales. Semillas: Elementary Spanish I is a comprehensive introductory Spanish open-access textbook with reading, listening, speaking, and writing practice. To ensure that our textbook is diverse and inclusive we have built a team of writers who cross gender, age, and nationality. We have consulted with people whose voices represent diverse demographic segments of the Spanish-speaking world to include a plurality of pronunciations and appearances. This textbook underwent a rigorous review process that included professionals from more than ten higher education organizations in the United States.
