Effects Of Traumatic Brain Injury On Domestic Violence Survivors, Elizabeth Marie Martin
Effects Of Traumatic Brain Injury On Domestic Violence Survivors, Elizabeth Marie Martin
Honors Program Theses
Very little research exists on the topic of traumatic brain injury within the context of domestic violence. The purpose of this research is to increase the body of knowledge on traumatic brain injury in domestic violence survivors. More specifically, this research serves to understand the frequency of traumatic brain injury among domestic violence survivors with the subsequent foci of analyzing the relationship between traumatic brain injury and domestic violence, identifying the impact of traumatic brain injury on domestic violence survivors, and discovering strategies for serving domestic violence survivors who have sustained traumatic brain injury. A secondary data analysis of a …
Capitalizing On Human Capital: An Examination Of Employee Motivation In A Changing Nonprofit Landscape, Katherine A. Betts
Capitalizing On Human Capital: An Examination Of Employee Motivation In A Changing Nonprofit Landscape, Katherine A. Betts
Graduate Research Papers
The purpose of the study is to conduct a comprehensive literature review related to examining the relationship between employee satisfaction and productivity in order to identify and capitalize on how to motivate workers. It is this author's belief that only through the evolution of the nonprofit sector to a more hybrid structure can it hope to handle the loss of government funding. As such, it is imperative to understand how employee motivation works in the private, public and nonprofit sectors. Only with a clear understanding of all potential influencers on a cross-sector hybrid organization can we hope to maximize the …
Building Empathy Through Literacy: A Review Of Classroom Literacy Practices, Alyssa J. Bruecken
Building Empathy Through Literacy: A Review Of Classroom Literacy Practices, Alyssa J. Bruecken
Graduate Research Papers
The discussion of the reciprocal relationship between empathy and literacy practices is arguably non-existent. This review discusses classroom literacy practices and the empathy flow in each practice. These classroom literacy practices were chosen because of their value in modeling empathy in the classroom while at the same time producing essential literacy skills in students. A reflective framework guides the de-construction of these lesson plans and can be applied to any classroom literacy practice. This reflective framework unveiled empathetic practices in literacy teaching.
Nurturing Resiliency Among Adolescents With Emotional And Behavioral Disturbances (Ebd) In A Special Education Setting, Rimaz Herz
Dissertations and Theses @ UNI
Many youth with emotional and behavioral disturbance (EBD) face significant challenges and difficulties with their families, schools, friends and peers, and even themselves, and experience them academically, emotionally, physically, socially and behaviorally. These youth need resilience to help them overcome these difficulties and challenges. This qualitative study focused on understanding the nature of schooling and interventions provided to students identified as having the most severe emotional and behavioral disabilities or needs, and how such schooling and interventions might explicitly or implicitly promote resilience. The researcher sought to examine interventions used by observing a specific self-contained program with clearly defined services. …

Using Social Technology In Professional Development: A Literature Review, Catherine M. Olson
Using Social Technology In Professional Development: A Literature Review, Catherine M. Olson
Graduate Research Papers
Due to unprecedented pressure to improve teaching practices and student achievement, professional development has become the focus of much scrutiny. This paper reviews twenty-six peer-reviewed journal articles that discuss the effects of integrating social technologies in professional development activities. The review examines the traits of effective professional development, the ways social technologies are being incorporated into professional development, the impact of this integration, and what problems may arise using social technology. Final discussions indicate that social technologies have great potential to encourage collaboration and professional growth. Further research is needed, however, to determine if using social technologies in professional development …

The Aftermath Of Deployment On Military Soldiers, Families And Children, Keri Lee Kulish
Graduate Research Papers
Learning ways that "we" as citizens of the United States of America can provide and support our military troops while they are diligently fighting for our country is the #1 priority. Soldiers are not the only ones that are enduring the hardships of the military, the soldier's families, but most importantly are their children, who are tomorrow's future.
The purpose of this literature review was to examine the hardships, affects of deployment on individuals, the development of an individual through the behavioral, emotional, physical and psychological aspects that effect military members, children and their families within the military lifestyle.

Multicultural Boards: An Examination Of The Pertinent Literature Of The Understanding Of An Individual’S Roles Serving On An International Nonprofit Board Of Directors, Carrie E. Radloff
Graduate Research Papers
An increase in the number of international nonprofits has necessitated the need for inclusion of culturally, socio-economically, and gender diverse board members. Existing literature shows that board members in different organizations understand their roles differently and therefore affect their performance on the board of directors as well as the performance of the board of directors as a whole. This paper is a literature review to establish how individual members of nonprofits understand their roles and whether diversity has an influence on their understanding of their roles. Also examined is the board's performance as influenced by diversity, as well as the …
