Foraminiferids Of The Cannonball Formation (Paleocene, Danian) In Western North Dakota, William E. Fenner

In 1974 and 1975 about 2800 samples (of which 265 contained foraminiferids) of the Cannonball Formation were collected from 60 water test wells and two oil wells in Adams, Bowman, Burleigh, Divide, Dunn, Grant, Mercer, Morton, Oliver, Sioux, and Ward Counties in western North Dakota. Fifty species of benthonic foraminiferids and four species of planktonic foraminiferids were identified including eight textulariines, two milio lines and 44 rotaliines. Taxa reported for the first time from the Can nonball include: Reophax sp. (2 species), Ammobaculites expansus Plummer, Spiroplectammina wilcoxensis Cushman and Ponton, Quinqueloculina plummerae Cushman and Todd, Dentalina eocenica Cushman, Lenticulina alabamensis …

In Section I, I have put into literal terms the concept I have expressed through visual terms, that, art is adventure, for creator and viewer. I have defined the term adventure in relationship to myself and to the viewer. I have discussed the importance of juxtapositioning imagery. In Section II, I have elaborated on a few of my paintings that specifically illustrate concepts presented in the preceeding section of the thesis. In Section III, I have photographically catalogued my work exhibited at the University Art Gallery, November 25 through December 21, 1975, comprising my thesis exhibit.

Some Aspects Of Reproduction In Captive Mountain Lions Felis Concolor, Bobcats Lynx Rufus And Lynx Lynx Canadensis, Clifford F. Mehrer

More than 1500 vaginal smears and 75 0 urine samples were collected from 18 captive mountain lions, Felis concolor Linnaeus, 17 bobcats, Lynx rufus (Schreber), and 9 Canadian lynx, Lynx canadensis Kerr, from 1973-1974. Four types of epithelial cells were observed in the vaginal smears: parabasal, intermediate, cuboidal superficial and nivi- cuiar superficial. The smears were classified as anestrus , proestrus , estrus or metestrus on the basis of the four cell types and other smear characteristics . The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of rapid reading training (as described by Vearl McBride) on the reading rates and comprehension of large print and braille readers. Of specific interest were comparisons among a group taught by McBride and two taught by the researcher under McBride’s tutelage, furthermore, it was a purpose of this study to investigate differences that exist between informal and formal tests given before and after sixteen hours of rapid reading training. Problem: This study examined two samples of North Dakota Women, the recognized group and the control group. The purpose was to determine the models of the women in the two groups and to identify personal and family characteristics, educational development and experiences, vocational patterns, avocational interests and values that were similar to both groups and those that were significantly different between the two groups.

Procedures: After the identification of the recognized sample a randomly selected control sample was compiled. There were 10$ women, originally, in each group.

In this study the conceptualization of the parental, role in selected children's books was analyzed. The analysis of the parenting figure (i.e., the character who undertook the care and responsibility of the child for a continuous length of time) was accomplished using the following three dimensions: (1) Need-Gratification and Control, (2) Stimulation-Maturity, (3) Affection-Emotional Interchange.

The sample consisted of twenty-six books representing txjo time periods 1950-1960 (Early Period) and 1964-1974 (Later Period) equally. The purpose of the study was to compare the values of selected high school male athletic participants and non- participants enrolled in grades ten to twelve at St. Boniface Diocesan High School. The instrument used was the Allport- Vernon-Lindzey Study of Values. The purpose of the test was to measure the relative prominence of six basic interests as motives in personality.

The purpose of this study was to classify and identify ecosystems in Bowman County, North Dakota. Procedures utilized in conducting this study were a review of pertinent Literature, cartographic analysis, air photo interpretation and field study.

The study has established a regional profile in terms of physical and cultural characteristics which has not previously been done for Bowman County, North Dakota.

Ecosystems were classified.using parameters previously established by the United States Department of Agriculture, Forest Service. The parameters included general topography, soil types, degree of slope -■'tad' vegetative cover.

The effects of learned helplessness and its relationship to depression were discussed. It was concluded that if learned helplessness was a valid experimental model for depression it should have detrimental effects on positively reinforced behavior. A number of rats were divided into two yoked groups and these two groups were put on the same food deprivation schedule. The animals were then trained in an aversive situation in a shuttle box. One group received escape training and one group received helplessness training. The yoked pairs received the same mean time of shock exposure. Attachment and dependency are two important related infant-mother relationships which develop in the first year of life. Attachment has been defined as an affectional bond that one person forms to another specific individual which is both discriminating and enduring. Dependency, on the other hand, has been defined as a class of behaviors learned in the context of the infant's dependency relationship with his mother, reinforced in the course of her care of him and generalized to other caretakers. Attachment behavior is defined as the diversity of behaviors which promote proximity, contact and communication with the figure or figures to whom the child is attached. The purpose of this study was to demonstrate that personality traits of the mother influence the manner in which she characteristically relates to her child. These traits, therefore, influence the quality of attachment of the child.

To accomplish this task, thirty-six mothers and their one- year-old children participated in a controlled laboratory situation consisting of eight episodes in which the child alternately played with the mother, with, a stranger, and alone. Observations were made …
